Default What to use to repair cracked (instrument cluster) plastic?

Hi everyone,

My speedometer needle was sticking, so I thought it best to clean and lubricate. While I was in there I used DeoxIT to clean all of the electrical contacts in the instrument cluster.

However, I was greeted by this nice surprise:

What do people suggest to use to repair this plastic?

I tried Testor's Modeling Cement. Didn't do a thing.

I have: JB Weld, Contact Cement, Gorilla Glue.

I can buy: JB Plastic Weld

I use 5 min epoxy to make plastic repairs. Be sure to lightly sand and clean the mating surfaces. A little on the exterior smoothed out also help the bond.

Any plastic super glue would be good.

Loctite, Permatex...

Of your list I would go with JB Plastic Weld. Any of the two-part plastic epoxies should work, as Duc mentioned. They stick to most plastics (which regular epoxy or JB-Weld probably won't) but have the strength of epoxy. You know you have the right stuff if it has a nasty stink.

Hi everyone. I ended up using this.

Loctite Loctite

It worked extremely well. It sets very fast, especially when it got on my fingers.

Thanks everyone for their tips!

Good old super glue gets overlooked a lot.

I guess even a well sorted 928 will find some way to give you an "electrical" problem.

When I accidentally get some on my hands I usually wipe it off immediately onto a disposable towelette. Keeps my hands nice and clean for the next job.
