Got to be the passenger side of the console, I spent ages thinking about & trying other things - there just isn't a lot of free space up front & handy in a 928!
I finally got a Jaguar accessory (from the scottsdale Porsche/Jaguar dealer shop) fold up cupholder that seems to be flatter when folded than the one shown in prior posts, It has a textured finish that exactly matches my black interior and I was able to attach it to the carpet covered panel below the console with thin bolts & a backing plate so no holes are visible even if removed. Its also fairly unobtrusive, within reasonable reach and my Wife doesn't complain about legroom in tha passenger seat.

In the driver side arm rest. If you open it up, and have some CD Jewel cases stored edgewise on the bottom, it's the perfect depth and width for a Starbuck's Grande.

Jager has a nice one, but walmart sells a neoprine one that hooks onto the vent and looks quite similar, I just modified mine slightly and it fits right where Jager has theirs mounted, saved $45.

The problem with all of the aftermarket cup holders are they are so damn ugly and out of place in the car. They need to be discreet so that the beast doesn't look "trailer park". If someone made a CH that could be inserted under the arm rest and totally discreet when not used, that would be the way to go. Until then, I think Adam has the best idea with jamming your coffee in the arm rest, soda's - just get the plastic bottles with the screw on caps and place by the emergency brake or anywhere.

Don,
I agree with you. I don't like anything in or on the car that looks like an accessory, if I can help it.
IMO, the best location is the raised, flat carpeted 'box' area just behind the driver's seat (where the belt bolts to the chassis). Gatorman's 'Paisely Group' product fits perfectly, and looks like it's supposed to be there when it's folded up. Probably because it's well made & happens to be German. It must be a German-Karma thing.
This is absolutely the most discreet location, and the slight inconvenience is worth it, IMO. A large cup sits snugly, and spilling is unlikely (however when a full cup's in the holder, you have to be careful putting on/taking off the seat belt. The belt base can disturb the cup)
The reach isn't as convenient as gluing/velcroing a holder to the console, or screwing a vertical mount on the passenger side of the console, but no unit looks right in any forward part of the interior, unfortunately.

I think T_Max has the right idea.

A metal carpeted box (JPTL is right, has to look factory) with two tall cup holes to go in front of the e-brake.
The twist: it needs to swivel 45+ degees inward so one's feet can pass if there are tasty beverages present.
