Default Torque tube bearings?

Anyone got any ideas on what happens if you rebuild the TT and leave the damper out?
Looking at Constantine's website I guess the GTS left the damper out, and having pulled the bearings & damper out of a 5 speed the damper rubbers looked worn (but the bearing supports looked fine?!??).....so, go super bearings or leave the damper out?

That's what I was heading for but, the 6006 bearings are $8 each for skf vs $580 for the super bearings.....

So on a standard transmission I'm assuming you'd do 11-12" from either end and center for 3rd bearing?

Looking online there isn't anything for 3rd bearing placement distance even with the damper?
I'm not saying that the super bearings aren't worth the money, but the car didn't cost that much, not to mention the junker 5spd I picked up to convert ..,,,,

The damper is a POS. Mine totally disintegrated when I was knocking out the bearings. The OEM bearings are jokes. The live axle bearings on the go-kart I was building were beefier than those. You can't go wrong with Constantine's.

Just to clarify, most 928 models used the vibration dampener with the notable exception being the Euro 928 CS models. Even the US 928 GT models used them.

Using three of our Super Bearing units negates having to use the vibration dampener again since they were engineered to replace the weight of the vibration dampener. This is a good thing since they will disintegrate with time and cause problems in the torque tube.

Picture attached showing one that came apart and started rubbing on the drive shaft as well as knocking the old bearing units out of position causing vibrations in the drive line.

It's a matter of perspective and peace of mind. I revamped my 928 when I first purchased it and upgraded many of the components that seemed to be recurring problems as noted by other owners on the forum. It took over 13 months but in the end, it was well worth the time and expense to have a stock 928 with modern "upgraded" parts. Belts, hoses, W/P, alternator, relays, ECM, Constatine's TT and Super Clamp, etc.
The end result was and has been a problem free 928 that performs like it was intended to. Almost two years and 5800 hundred miles. ( Also did the Deoxit to every fuse and electrical connection, ground strap event the lights).
Peace of mind..

The damper WILL for sure be a problem with time. My 87 S4 only has about 63k miles. I am glad I did the preventative rebuild with the Superbearings. Got the Superclamp at the same time.
