This car has some issues. It's been brought up on here (and Pelican) before.
The title & CarFax don't show anything because there was never an insurance claim (accident was on a track), but the damage was pretty severe and the rebuild was pretty extensive.
$13k may be a fair price for it, but having it inspected by someone who is aware of the history of the car and knows 928s (especially how to measure for body straightness) would be imperative.
Hint: A good place to find a car's history is to search out threads started by the owner.

Let's not forget re-sale. Any car that has had a major accident will be hard to sell at market values. This is a great car to fix and drive. But not to fix and sell.
Plus I'm sure there are many more issues hiding in the shadows on this one. But still possible good deal for a wrencher to fix and drive.

sometimes a deal is good enough that you just have to take the risk and pull the trigger, otherwise you lose it. I am sure AO will be able to figure out any potential issues and have a well sorted and great value GT in no time.

I saw the car after it was straightened but before it was reassembled. The quality of the repair was excellent and where the frame rail was reattached to the tub was very nicely done. Quality work. It has been a few years now but the body panels line up correctly and I recall he was quite pleased that there were not any issues getting it aligned.

Confucius always say when you are buying a car over the internet without seeing it in person it is not so much the integrity of the car but more about the person selling it.

When things get to such a low price, does the resale value really matter? It probably lost more than $13K when the original owner drove it off the dealer lot.
Since it has a known tarnished history, I see daily driving fun without obsessing over accumulated mileage or worrying over leaving it in a store parking lot.
Being a GT, I'd also look at it as a $6500 investment...short of burning to the ground, would it ever sell for less than $6500 even as a parts car?

Well... Dan backed out. This car is not going to me. I heard from a reliable source that Dan tried to sell it to someone else for more money than what he an I had agreed to even after I gave him a deposit. That gave me a bad feeling and so I'm now actually glad he backed out and refunded my deposit.
Caveat emptor.

This car has "history" Digging for "Mason GT" would probably bring up a lot of info.
From memory, there's a big thread with pics from Mason before he sold it on the other site.
Plus there's Dan's own recent thread about rebuilding the airbag system.

I have a 928 GT that was in an accident a couple years ago that deployed the airbags.
I recently was able to get replacement parts including:
- new 928 steering wheel with airbag
- passenger airbag and airbag cover
- 2 impact sensors ( I think they go in the footwells )
I talked to Porsche and they quoted me at $2500 to get it all re-installed. I think I want to do it myself instead.
The question is, where do I start?

This car has "history"
From memory, Mason started out trying to part this car out before decided to instead get it put together with a front clip from another car and sell as a complete car.
Plus there's Dan's own recent thread about rebuilding the airbag system. I'd say the value is pretty low by GT standards...
Anyone got the VIN to look up option codes and stuff?
