Last time I spent serious time in Oregon (Beaverton in the late 80's) the speed restrictions & enforcement were a bit insane - I was pulled over for doing 60 on a rural part of the Sunset Highway.

Only my UK driving license that confused the heck out of the officer got me off with a - "pay attention to the speed limits - we are out here every day".

He wasn't kidding, hiding behind bridges seemed to be their MO back then. Hope things have lightened up a bit - made driving no fun at all - even in a tiny Toyota hatchback.

I did go to Bend/Mt. Batchelor - and there (and all the way there) seemed a lot more relaxed.

Alan

PS You are probably an honorary O-duck already (so don't sit down! )

Speed management is a full-time deal on the local highways and byways. The Good News is that the local and state LEO's around here run their radar all the time, so a decent detector is almost a get-out-of-jail card in disguise. Most folks cruise at 5-10 over the limits. Plus I never drive that fast anyway, yer onnnner. Reality is that there's --far-- less traffic, and way less driving stress. "Rush hour" is split between moms dropping kids off for school time, and moms picking kids up from school time. Not quite as hectic as SoCal. Of course, I could look down from my home office window and "see" the instant traffic report there.

On a recent vacation dash over to Jackson Hole in the Honda Pilot, cruising at 65 in a 55 posted rollercoaster section, we saw radar and couple bits later the mounties heading towards us. I tapped the brakes on the first warning to alert the guy behind me, then he braked hard when he saw the patrol truck come over the rise. That was apparently a big enough red flag to get a smoky turn-around and nab for the guy behind me. I'm upgrading the detector in the Pilot soon.

But this is a "license plates" thread....

Jim you and I think alike! I have previously had PTURBD and 928TRBO

But I honestly considered to make my next plate "1IL01IO" which is the number one, capital I, capital L, number zero, number one, capital I, and the capital letter O.

When out on some of the fun runs we do, its good to have a tough plate to read and recall LOL......
