Default Sport Seats

Just out of curiosity, what are a pair of excellent condition and recently redyed with Leatherique manual sport seats worth?

They are out of a 82 5 speed that came as an option from the factory.

You'll get more replies with pictures

$1000? (I'm not in the market, so just guessing - condition will be key though)

I'm thinking of redoing the interior this winter.

Making it a two seater and relocating a large subwoofer, 1200 watt amp and four 6x9 speakers in the rear seat space.

Right now we have a large speaker enclosure behind the rear seats (which are worthless to me) but I have zero space under the hatchback.

The interior is already modified with Momo bits, so non stock seats aren't a concern. Thinking about installing Corbeau A4 seats.

Pictures can be sent if anyone is serious.

Probably less than $400 since they are the early sport seats which are the same as those put in the 911. The later Sport seats put in the 85 and on are more like the 928 seats and will push $1000 in nice original condition, not needing rcovering.

Hmmm...interesting opinion.

The early, all manual seats are shared with the 911 Turbo S slantnose, one of the most exclusive of all the air cooled cars.

They are also significantly lighter and you sit lower in them.

The best feature of my 81 is the all manual, early style sport seats.

Thanks for the info.

A set from a 91 GT sold for more than 2000$ on ebay UK a couple of months ago. They were in very good condition.

I just sold a set of the early manual seats for $500 that needed work - very rare to find in good condition so maybe a $1000+ if they need no work.

Totally different from the 85 onwards sport seats most are more familiar with.

I actually have a set of these very seats and they are in fairly good condition. They had been put into the GTS4 that I bought about 3 years ago. They do sit much lower than the comfort seats or than the later Sport seats, but my impression of them was they are kind of like sitting in a bucket.

I had offered them to one of the well known 928 parts vendors in the DFW area for $400, but he snubbed his nose at the offer. That is the basis for my suggestion that they are worth less than $400.

I buy and sell so that maybe why I did not like the price. Selling to my business is not like selling to a private party. I probably said thanks but no thanks - not exactly snubbing my nose. Besides I am very particular about what I purchase for resale.

I can understand some of that, but I don't understand how one could turn down an offer for something they haven't seen or even seen a picture of, without simply snubbing your nose at the offer. That is still the basis for my suggestion that they are not worth even $400.

Now that you are telling what they might actually be worth, perhaps I will change my own opinion.

Have to agree, if you modify the car's seat rails, the seating position is very low.

I had manual sport seats in my '77 911. Probably the same seats Jerry mentions. Great seats and I loved the way they grasped me above the hips and below the ribcage in fast sweepers.
But they were deep and very narrow for my fat *** (even then), so I used a thin leather pillow on the seat to elevate me just a bit. It eliminated hip pain from hours in the saddle and made them as comfortable as any Porsche seats I've ever had and I've always been able to get out of my Porsches and stand-up and walk - even after 12-16 hours with only gas stops.

To the OP, they are worth whatever Roger is unwilling to pay.

I'm with Hacker on this. They are nice! I've had both early and late sport seats and I like the early ones better.
Would love an early set as a core for reupholstery in vinyl w/pasha.
