I'd still love to take this 6L a part and see what's going on with it. You've been fighting this thing for years.

Bids are up to $4200 with reserve not met.
Some pictures for those who have an interest in buying.
You need a UK based eBay account to see the listing.

"All the same high-quality parts we use ourselves and have been proven to provide great reliability in your 928"

Carl just posted this in his own thread about 928 stroker kits. Have you talked to him about fixing the engine again by chance?

at the moment there are still 3 possibilities:

my building of it
other components installed in the engine
the short motor itself

as i have decided i am happy with the engine now fitted to it, even if i did find the cause and repaired it so it was working perfectly, i will not be putting the 6L back in the orange one.

if it does not sell on ebay i will strip it to see if i can see the cause.

IF it was found to be the short motor itself, i think the cost of shipping/time scale/ would just not be worth the hassel.

at this moment in time i have no problem with Carl and his ability to supply and build stroker short motors.

cheers
Phil

Shame you didn't do a compression test as if good it would increase the value significantly.
Any chance you can do that before the auction ends?

the day job is taking up most of the hours in the day, but a compression test will be the first thing i try if it does not sell.

true, if it did have good compression it would increase its value, but if it did not it would decrease its value.

but as i say it is not going in any 928 i own so it either goes to a good home now or if it does not sell and i can fix it it goes on ebay again - inc USA.

if i cannot fix it, it makes a coffee table

cheers
Phil

Ok where was I during all this?

I find this old you tube link and was fascinated:

Then I back track, look for Phil himself and find him here.
Then I read the thread and become even more impressed with Phil’s perseverance.
What an amazing story.

just a quick update.
so as of today i have done approx 4k happy miles in the old girl since post 54, all is working just as it should and it looks, goes and sounds just as i hoped it would when i first started this project 11 years ago.
just given it a service, and a good check over and the engine has no leaks and runs sweet, the only things i needed to change were the rear tyres as they were on 2mm but when i looked at the date on them they were still the original ones i had fitted 10 years ago so you can tell i don't leave black lines when i set off from the lights.
i would have been out driving it today but as i live in Cumbria -the Lake District- its raining

i still cannot believe how many people have viewed the youtube video.

and i still need to strip the 6L engine, should get round to it later in the year and will let all know if it's my f up or not.

but i will be getting my other project 928 back to full health this year, will post more pictures in that thread in a couple of weeks, the thread is "A POS SE"

cheers
Phil

The one thing I have learnt from Phil is that you can overcome adversity

Well he can anyway...
