Default 928 vs girlfriend

My 928 have been sittig idle for a long time. I had my x-mission overhaul last year, vinter/spring.
The transmission was rebuilt 6 months after me and my fiance broke up. It is no secret that she hated the 928.

I got the 928 back from the shop and enjoyed the ride for awhile, no snags and just pure enjoyment for a period.

But....after some time I just started to use my Peugot stationcar more and more, to the point where the 928 was just sitting idle in my garage.

I used my 928 winter and summer before this.

Now, I start it once in awhile, let it run on idle and maybe take it out for a spin on occation.

I even have been thinking of selling it.

As I sit here whith a glass of redwine, enjoying the summer and its warm evenings....i cannot get the 928 out of my head.
Why do I not use it as I did before?
Is it because I think of my past fiance? Is it because I had so many troublesome evenings trying to explain to my fiance why I had to buy this 928?

We did not have any financial problems whatsoever by getting this beautiful machine....but it caused a lot of problems between us.
Maybe because she had on a preovious occation been dumped by a guy driving a 911?

Anyway, the 928 is still sitting there idle. Why?
It is beautiful, I maintain it, and I check up on it once in awhile.

It goes to say that my ex only sat in the 928 2 times, all together for 6 minutes before she had to get out.

We split not because of the 928, even it may had some small factor involved.

But .....WHY do I not use this fine piece of machinery?
My friends are starting to wonder.

Maybe your fiance was afraid your 928 would attract other women? My girlfriend dumped me because there were times I preferred working on the car to spending time with her. Plus, dating really cuts into funds available for tires, parts, etc... I may be tight, but I'm not cheap...

When I moved/lived in Boston, and kept a house Michigan. My g/f in Boston called the house my "wife back home" ...and the 928 was my "mistress". I asked her if she was into 3somes, and she replied, "your place or mine..?". I said "how 'bout the in the car...".
We laughed and laughed, then went out and did in on the german leather.

Keep the car. I think ya just have to invite 'em in.

Ya should have let her drive.

The 928 is a drivers car. It's designed to please the driver, not the passanger. I hate rideing in my 928, I love driveing.

My g/f dislikes my 928, I let her drive, now she's willing to ride, assumeing she gets a chance to drive.

It's a Porsche, it's all in the driveing.

That said, take the car for a spin. It's it's no fun, sell it. If it is, don't.

Whats the deal Hoyo. Our 928's are the most awesome all around car ever produced. I get a thrill just looking at mine, then when i open the door and here that solid build quality sound, I smile. The smile grows when i sit in that most comfortable leather glove, i mean seat. When i reach forward with anticipation to turn the key (atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed), i can't believe i finally own this exotic. Put the tunes on, open the windows to hear the exhaust note and everything else is gravy.
As for the girl, go to whatever passes for an upscale gentlemans club in Norway and let some blue eyed blond help you forget her. If that fails go to amsterdam.

Hoyo, I've had many wifes and many Porsche's Stick with the Porsche's until the one who lets you enjoy both comes along.

Now go drive the 928 before she becomes jealous.

Good Luck,

Richard

What you haven't talked about is how you FEEL about the breakup with your ex fiance. If the Porsche and the fiance are entwined in YOUR brain then it's time to move on to another car OR another fiance.
Sounds to me like you dodged a bullet when you parted ways with a girl who carried a lot of baggage, SOME of it related to Porsches.

I may not be able to find Ernests overheating problem, but one thing I do know is to enjoy your car and after awhile things will get better with time. Reno

Well, I'll offer up another insentive to keep it.

YOU SELL THE CAR, AND I KICK YOUR A$$!!

Seriously think about what is hindering your enjoyment of the car. Is there some guilt, or something else that takes away the focus? Heres why I don't drive mine: ITS IN PIECES. The only time I don't drive the 928, is when its not in road-worthy condition, or when I'm in the Mercedes for running errands and crap like that. When I want to drive, and I mean really drive, I get in the 928! When I want to run to the store or buy some ding dongs, or who knows what I'm doing thats purposefully going to put me in stop and go traffic, I drive the other car or the bike if its quick. I think what might help you put the spark back in your 928 relationship, is some new performance parts. Hows that exhaust? Ever get an RMB or Louie Ott's X crossover? Maybe some time wrenching on it and 'testing' out your new go-fast goodies in it will relight the fire for the car. Hey, if nothing else you're improving the shark . You just gotta love these cars!

Hmmm. If this girl is causing you to ignore your shark, and she's already out of your life? I'd say take that car on a long weekend trip on some twisty roads and you'll remember why you still have the car and not her.

I bet (and I'm totally serious here) that the 928 brought a smile to your face more often than she did, and she knew it.- Ruf

I have the perfect picture of a woman who does coexist with a 928. I can't seem to figure out how to post it though.
