I have never seen this car but just looking at the pics and if this car has never been in an accident, it's a real deal at 25K. I would say in the high 20's would still be a good price for a car that nice.

Of course if nothing's wrong with it. If it is as good as it looks.

Beautiful car.

I've just checked the VIN showing in the pic and it shows the following ...

VIN: WP0JB2927LS860498
1990 928
CO2: USA
M28.47
G28.55

Options:
M158 ... Radio Reno
M418 ... Protective mouldings
M498 ... Without rear model designation
M570 ... High output air-conditioner
M650 ... Sunroof
M980 ... Seat cover ruffled leather

All those are confirmed by the pics, but it doesn't show the options of Manual trans ... 481 or GT ... 639

I think, but could certainly be wrong that the 639 was only for the 89 model year, and possibly the 481 as well. The M28.47 and G28.55 confirm the GT provenance subject to physical verification.

In 1990 there were no S4's produced with a 5 speed. The S4 were all automatic and the GT were 5 speed.
Only in 1989 were there both S4 & GT's produced with a 5 speed.

Think you're right. I wonder why they didn't continue the 639 through the whole MY range?

By default a GT has 5 speed so I guess there is no point stating the obvious that it has 481, and that would only be stated where the option of Auto exists as an alternative.

I still can't figure out the logic in listing of options, which sometimes seems totally random, and not at all a true representation of actual options (i.e: optional extras) over and above standard inclusions ... often its a mix, and many cars don't show all the actual options on the sticker.

Same story in 1991 .. so that explains the lack of 639 option (90 & 91) ... there was no need to differentiate, as all 5 speeds were GT and autos were S4.

Ed,

I thought that car was so nice, and it fit your favorite color combination so well that it would be on it's way to your garage by now (and the boxster of to a less sophisticated owner!! - ha).

Yes, it is in excellent condition. Left front fender has been re-sprayed (good but not perfect color match to my eye), there is a very small dent in the rail above the passenger door, the right front fog light has a small chip in it. The driver's seat bolster is in quite good condition.

Also, the driver's seat has more than just 8 way power. It is either heated or lumbar, or both. The door was locked when I looked at it, so I couldn't tell which, but the seat adjustment switch case was elongated for one or both of those options.

Based on condition, mileage and current pricing, this is a steal.

I just put a deposit on this beauty. Car will be in my driveway pending a PPI. Can anyone recommend a knowledgeable 928 someone in the Pittsburgh area for the inspection? Much obliged.

Brian,
Here's a contact that may be able to do a PPI for you that is real convenient to Foreign Traffic. They are located a few miles south on RT 8 and they have some experience with 928's, from what I'm told. I've never used them on my car yet.

Fowler Automotive
412 213 3276
1201 William Flynn Hwy (rt 8)
Glenshaw, PA 15116

Ask for Andy and tell him that Rick (with the black 85 928S in case he forgets who I am) from the ARPCA, recommended you talk to him.

A lot of us local looked at this car and it is real nice. We haven't driven it though. PM me if you want to discuss it. Good luck

Ed (OP) may be able to give you the name and number of the guy he uses for his 928. His guy is located much further away though.

Very nice buy. Where do you keep all of those cars?

I just bought this car from Camboinc.

It suffered a front end collision shortly after Brian purchased it.

The plan is to restore it.
