Noise coming from passengers side valve cover
I recently put on my valve covers after getting them powder coated, I started it up today and theirs a lot of chattering going on on the passengers side valve cover. I also replaced the Hall Sender Unit. Do you think I installed the Hall Sender Unit Wrong? Is that possible? As the RPM gets faster the noise gets faster. Thanks

When you had the cam cover off, do you recall what you had under the bridge at the aft end plugging the journals (oil galley holes) ? A journal pin (which is the current superceded part) or the journal plug (old part) ? The images show each. The other image shows what it looks like with a plug in (Right) and plug out (Left). If those journals are open you will lose oil content up top - most common cause of tappet chatter.

These journal plugs or pins are internal to these.
The status of the journal plugging/pinning is crucial - you may have to take a look.
What oil are you using ? Makes a difference so oil can get up top, especially on start up.

Should have originally posted this, I had to remove the spark plug wires. I bought the Nology wires a couple years ago. When I touched some of their ground straps when the car was on it shocked me. Also I hear a sucking sound (not from the spark plug wires)

When you say caps, you mean outer cam covers ?

I never removed the caps. So you want me to remove the valve cover again and remove the caps? Do these pins normally go bad after your remove the valve covers? The car has been sitting for a couple weeks and it still made the noise after I drove it for 30 minutes. I am using AMSOIL European Oil Mid SAPS.
Is that oil 'heavier' than a 15-50 ? If so, it may be having difficulty 'pumping up' to the cams on start up.
And: removal of the valve covers should not affect the journal plugs/pins.

Without running the engine again, pull that cover off and see what's inside. Related: While the covers were off, did you replace the wear pads for the chain tensioner? If so, verify that it's still in place, and that the little oil feeder tube is intact.
Many (including me) stuff the oil return galleys while the covers are off. Several (including me) have pulled the cam covers after reading the big note on the assembly table that reminds us that the galleys still have towels in them. Are there rags/paper towels/whatever still in there to prevent parts from migrating down to the sump?
By mid MY1989, the oil cap plugs in the cam bearing caps were changed to pins IIRC. Mine has pins.

So I basically just take the valve cover off. I hate when this happens I have to be away from my car for two weeks knowing something is wrong. Do I only clean one check valve. So theirs 3 caps total I need to inspect or replace?

Not unless it's the wrong Hall sensor or the rotating sensor actuator plate (called a Rotor Trim in PET..) is bent in some way that it's contacting the tip of the sensor.
The Hall sensor shouldn't be making contact with anything.
