They were made some years before for S4 and GT sold in Switzerland and made standard for GTS. Idea was specifically to make less intake noise. I would expect them to do that even though difference might be difficult to notice.
So was there some specific Swiss noise regulation that they needed to comply with? anyone?
At anything above idle the intake noise seems to be small part of the total noise package. My cooling fans & blower make far more noise than I can ever detect from the intake... I tried and failed to tell the difference even with both these off
I accept car as it is with pros and cons (every car has got pros and cons )... Glad porsche did not save money on safety systems like brakes airbags.... Intake tubes are made really badly? Yes, but it is something i can live with.

I agree, cooling fans are a lot louder than intake noise.
I don't really know what they are supposed to do, but Swiss rules said that intake pipes are good. In Swiss also BMWs had different pipe before air box, then they gotthe sameengines of the rest of the world, but in 6 and 7 series exhaust pipes (1976ca- 1986ca) the twin exits were43mm of diameter , in Italy germany and rest of europe(dunno sweden) got usual 46mm .
Alpine cow milk turns sour if there is too much noise. That's also why GT and late S4 used early S4 style large middle resonators when everywhere else small GT versions were in use.

That is also the reason why the CS was not available in Switzerland.
Even if at least two of them were imported later
