Default "Singer" 928

For a while now i've been thinking about what Singer offers the Porsche enthusiast @$300,000.

Is there a market @ $120,000 for a 928 done in much the same way now that they are collectibles?

I know it's been done back in the day (Koenig/Strosek) but what about now?

If the looks and performance where there (and they would be) I wonder how much money someone would be willing to pay?

I would want something along the lines of the Max Moritz 928 GTR but mechanically using the best components and ideas the Senior members of this forum have to offer..

I know I'd rather have a Max Moritz 928 GTR than a new $120,000 Carrera any day of the week. Any putz can lease a new Carrera.

The 911 is valued more for sure, ..but the 928 is an iconic Porsche and can still offer great performance and is still a great design.

Remember the Max Moritz cars were faster than the factory 911 GT3s at the time.

I've seen pics of the Singer 911, but what makes a Singer a 'Singer' ?

The market isn't there, because the 911 crowd bad mouthed the 928 so much that most people were afraid of buying one. BTW, they still do.

This is off topic but this is a big reason I'm not doing any more PCA sanctioned car shows.

It may be true that I'm a hyper-competitive *******, but the guys that would typically win those events would drive a new Carrera to the show and park it with the other nine new Carreras.

Begging the question: what skill or effort did you put into your car?
Answer: none.

Look at how nicely the line in the front bumper cover picks up the fender line.

The hatch is perfect..

I have to confess I've never been a fan of that Strosek 'tunnel' vertical rear window on the Moritz car. Seems to me it would make the interior claustrophobic and having two 2-foot wide blind spots can't be good.

If I was building a 'Singer' 928, it would be on an 86.5 chassis. A lot of what I would do has already been captured by Matt's philosophy on his '83. But I'd mess it up with a bunch of heavy S4+ parts.

Ah, now there we go- pick one of the arguably greatest of the 928's (yes of course there are others, just happens to be mine ) and do what Singer does- not mod it, just take the stock details to the nth degree. And we have all the resources! Rob, Paul, Greg, DR, Mark, Ed, you, too Rob, etc etc- take all the best and put it together. Dang. I'll be back, I need a lottery ticket...

But seriously, like Singer, do the best of everything in every detail from coachwork to interior, to engine. Just imagine... The very best of the very best. Could that be a goal?

Matt,
I think Tony's Just Peachy is the closest thing to a "Singer" 928. I know it is impossible, but I would love to have a 928 that has every brand new mechanical component of a C6 ZR-1 or C7 transplanted without changing the interior or exterior appearances.

The guy who is the closest to this idea mechanically is Slate Blue down under, if he ever gets it finished and I hope he does, socal joe is close and a few others.

I gotta say that strosek is butt ugly, whereas the singer is not. The french dude did the best 928 body parts for the aftermarket.

And if this guy had not changed out the frogeye's (big mistake) it would be 1 of the best looking 928's. The aero mirrors and later wing look awesome on this S2, not to mention those wheels. (almost looks like gts rear qtrs)
