Thanks Fellas
Will have a look at the CE panel today, to look for trouble with the starter relay.
At this point, i am inclined to leave this wiring in, as it may well be the fix for a no start issue when hot.(thank you for the link Glen)

If i do decide to leave it in, how can i identify which wire (black or white) should connect to the "added" wiring.

I have never had any starting issues with the car, maybe leaving well enough alone here is the smart play, the new harness has to go in, i can always revisit this later i suppose.

Cheers,

Cheers,
If you are replacing the whole harness I'd just strip this out. Most 928's have this same configuration for starter relay and I can see no good reason that is isn't quite adequate to start the car reliably. You could try it like this first - because if not you will need to modify the new harness to connect to this wiring...

The original additional small terminal connections should have been a yellow wire to the solenoid (50) and a Yellow/Black wire to the secondary switch (16) to reduce the coil resistor value during starting.

I assume in the new harness (50) is the white wire and (16) is the black wire.

So you would need to connect the white wire to one of your added wires and the added other wire to the (50) terminal on the starter. The wires can go either way around.

Alan
Thanks for your help here. You are right, i should disconnect the added wiring, leaving it in place and intact(except for one cut obviously), then install the new harness as it is supposed to be, and then, if start issues arise, i can re-install what had been done before, if it seems likely this will rectify it.

Still need to check CE Panel first, i don't recall seeing anything amiss there, but i wasn't looking for this in particular.

Cheers,

Hi All
Just a note to stitch this one all up.Installed the new harness as Alan suggested, (as it is supposed to be), and all is well. I could not see any evidence of tampering with the stock starter relay, so my thought here is that Glen was correct suggesting a "hot start fix" had been applied to the car(originally from Florida).I am keeping the added wiring in place(disconnected) for now, and we'll see if an issue crops up.

Thanks Fellas!
