Cool Michigan

I'm going to be spending 5 weeks in Michigan starting on August 25th for training, and I'm planning on bringing my 928. I'll be staying in the Anne Arbor area. What are the names of good shops in the area in case I have trouble?

Thanx!

Any particular type of trouble?

For hunger trouble, try the Old Bavaria Brew House.

For women trouble, try Sneaky Pete's gentlemen's club.

For medical trouble, stop into Tri-County Medical Hospital.

Guess you need to be a bit more specific...

For Hotel accomodations - The Sheraton Ann Arbor -

For entertainment - check out the Strip. (Forget the street name) - Also the Nug art gallery - (not your everyday art gallery - please tell Noah Drew said Hello.

The good shops are called Dozman, Ell, sueden, and Big Dave.

Seriously, as a group we've tackled just about everything that could happen.

Check your PM.

Normy,
Look me up. I'll be in A2 for a couple UofM games during that time. Might be able to glom you an extra tix.

Normy - first you need to learn that it's spelled "Ann Arbor" without the "e". But that's only the 2nd most common misspelling. Most often I 've seen people call the city "Ann Harbor" - as if we're on a body of water. Sheesh!

There is a Porsche/Audi/VW dealership in town - Howard Cooper by name - that has a fair number of 928s as regular customers. But Dave is probably right. I suspect that as a group they know more about 928s than any dealership.

Until recently I've had all my 928 service done by an independent shop here that supposedly knows 928s, but I've had some problems with them so I can't recommend them. I haven't taken my 928 to HC yet, but they serviced all my previous Porsches and I never had any major problems.

So you're driving up from Florida?

Jim:

Are you going to the game vs. Houston? I might be going to either that one or the opener against Central Michigan.....of course bringing the 928.

Normy!

I assume you're going to be spending some time at Willow Run from one of your earlier post regarding Connie Kalitta's character. I live about 2 miles from Willow Run. Give me a call sometime when you are free and we can get together. I have some tools a compressor and garage space if needed. Beer too! You can always reach me on my cell @ 734-837-7908.

If you have problems, there's a shop called EuroTec Motors in Ann Arbor. Tim Potts is the owner. He knows 928s, but he's a bit on the slow side, and he's pretty expensive. But I believe his work is first rate and he's a really nice guy. His address is 3728 Trade Center Ann Arbor, MI 48108. Telephone: 734-973-6335

If you are going to be driving it up here, you may want to join the 928 Road Help list if you haven't already. You can email Greg who took on this awesome initiative at 928roadhelp@chrter.net. The only requirement to get the list is that you have to be willing to put your name on it too. Not a big deal. No one has abused it yet to my knowledge.

Good luck, and hope to meet you soon.

Dave,
I'm going to the CMU, Notre Dame, Purdue, and OSU games. I'm sure Chewy will be there for the CMU one. It will be fun to watch Central gets the *** kicked. lol

Andrew,

EuroTec is the shop I've had problems with. Back when I had a 944 they spent 10 weeks doing an A/C refit. Then I got the car back and it failed the next day - and took 2 more weeks and more $$$ to get it back! I basically didn't have the car for the entire summer.

My last 2 visits with my 928 I got a rude shock when I went to pick up the car. Both times they charged me more than the quote without ever contacting me for my OK. The latest was over $600 extra!

Another time I had the car in for what I though was an ignition swith problem. They confirmed that immediately, but then spent the additional 4 hours I'd authorized "checking out the rest of the system". And they didn't find anything else wrong. At $90/hour, I was more than a bit annoyed.

I won't be taking any of my cars there anymore...

Norm,
You are going to have to plan on attending our September Beer night! If you find time to kill, give a call and we can all get together and go for a drive.

Normy,
I am in the Ann Arbor area 3-4 nights a week. UofM will be starting back up around the time that you get up here which means plenty of college partying. PM me for my contact info and we can grab a beverage or 2 and find some drunk college girls that would like to take a little ride in the sharks.

I would also echo Big Dave, look up the locals. I know Doz has been a huge help to me with 928 problems.
