Default uber radiator fan removal

I have gregs uber radiator with the oil cooler installed on the left side . I am having trouble pulling the fan shroud to service the fans....

I have

- pulled upper rad hose
- disconnected the electrical from the fans
- loosened the ps reservoir
- disconnected the top left oil cooler port that is special to gregs radiator
but
still cant jimmy it out !

do I need to remove the radiator with shroud as a unit .....

maybe I will remove the lower rad hose and see if that gives a little more posterior wiggle room to get past the upper oil cooler connection..

any Ideas from anyone would be helpful !!!!!!!

Andy-

If it's similar to the stock setup, it takes a little manipulating to get the fan console out. The top oil cooler hose gets disconnected, and to get access to the fitting you'll need to unbolt the fan console, lift it a little then move it back an inch or so for wrench access on the fitting. The power steering vluif filter/reservoir will need to come loos and be moved back prior to this; I use a temporary wire tie looped around the crossbar to hold it up and back. Once the oil cooler line is removed, the console needs to move back a little, then gets wriggled up and out. The passenger side moves back just far enough to get around the ATF cooler fittings, then some more wiggling and eventually it will come free. It's pretty much straight up with a slight drift to the driver's side, with the console leaning back slightly. The first time I did it I couldn't see how it could come out, but it will. Just be careful of the mounting hooks on the top and the ears on the bottom of the fan console itself; don't want to break them accidentally.

Make sure you've cut the tie that holds the lower hose to the fan console saddle just forward of the power steering pump.

Once you get it out, I can provide a much slimmer and easy to remove unit. May make your life easier in the future.

Removing the shroud is tough, when everything is stock. When that slightly thicker 928 International radiator got installed, things just get worse.

The oil return line to the pan just makes things worse.

A thinner fan shroud would be great! Plus that, you could remove the original one with a Sawsall!

A couple quick pictures without the fans installed. Extremely thin, and a hidden provision for mounting a 4-pin Weatherpack connector for a quick connect.

HAHAHAHA…..dont think I DIDNT THINk about a sawsall !!!! I did just get it out but man I DIDNt know I had to wedge it so hard between the ac line and the transmission line,,,,there was no way I could get at the upper transmission line by pushing the shroud back…..

but the driver side upper oil cooler line was not bad for a novice

the lift helped tremendously as after everything was positioned from above , I could just push hard from below !
