Default Porken Tensioner

Hey Gang,

I'm troughly confused here in Memphis. I have an 87S4 i'm trying to install a porkensioner on. I got the kit in the mail today. I had already torn the front down in accordance with Dwaynes awesome write-ups. I have the instructions on the porkensioner install but they aren't rated for a newbie. My questions:

BTW - i removed the air pump.

- instructions say to loosely install original tensioner bolt (does the kit come with a new one? Where does it go?) I'll refer to Dwaynes write-up to see if I can determine where on this new tensioner it would go.

- item #3 on the instructions show a picture with what looks like the hollow tube mounted to the bracked. I have that tube in the kit, (how do you mount it?) It looks to be welded on, mine isn't welded on.

- Item #3 on the write-up states to tourque the flange head and counter sunk bolts to 15 lbs, but then it says to remove 900 0740139 02 (8 x 55) again. Are these the bolts in the water pump? I know my kit didn't come with 8 like bolts.

Please help! I'm stuck

What began to fill like a victory for a newbie is starting to elevate my blood pressure. I'll have additional questions when I get past installing the tensioner correctly.

Ok Ash, this, this right here is where I don't want to be when I finally get the Porkensioner to install. I too have read and re-read the instructions and they leave a lot to be desired...at least at my level of comprehension. Glad there is someone nearby that has struggled through this already.

Sorry, the long overdue new-and-improved manual is waiting for new pics from a fresh PKT-B install. (Along with a new Hans fan-shroud. )

Reuse the upper-most 8x55 bolt from the stock tensioner. This bolt goes through the cover and then the tube spacer.

Importantly, but not clearly stated in the manual, is that after all bolts are screwed in place by hand, fully tighten and torque the flat-head bolt before the others so that it is located properly in its countersink.

If you are using the early water pump, ENSURE you install the plug where the old idle arm pulley bolt went or you will end up with a nice mess of coolant all over the place.

I won't name names but I've had 3 of these phone calls in the last month. They all sorta went like this:

Me: Hello
Them: Sean, I have coolant pouring all over the floor and no idea where it is coming from.
Me: Ok.
Them: What did I do?
Me: Dunno, take it back apart and look.

By the 2nd call it went like the above but my first response was

Me: Pull passenger gear cover and unbolt front cover, install drain plug on water pump. Be happy.

I'm waiting for call number 4 anytime.

It was sort of a "lay awake at night in the dark" imagining whether the memory I had to putting sealant on a bolt to fit that threaded hole was in my mind or was real.

First time I put coolant in, I was apprehensive.
