I was getting a gas smell coming from the passenger side and checked posts here that said the Y connector was the likely culprit. I removed the liner and found it to be the case. Unfortunately two of the ends of the Y connector were broken off in the tube. Can anyone offer a suggestion on how to remove the broken pieces from the tubes?

Grab a large pair of waterpump pliers (Channelocks) and crush the plastic bits inside the tube. Drain the crumbled pieces out the end of the tube.
I replaced the hard section of plastic hose from the cannister to the Y with a softer piece of emissions hose, and carefully tied all the hoses up so they wouldn't strain the Y any more. See attached instruction for details.

Try and replace that POS with something sensible if you can- like a 3 way brass gas fitting. they are easy enough to replace but what a crock of a design.
