Printing is the easy part. Send me the .STL file with your 3D print-model and I can get it printed.

That said (tongue in cheek) the next major iteration of my stereo may involve a 3d-printed console insert to allow a 2-DIN unit. I've done a 3d-printed cradle for my amps already. Doing the 3d model of even a simple part takes non-trivial time. And printing costs are non-trivial too.

You are more patient than I. I don't think I could live with the behavior you describe.

I have not experienced the HW issue of it cutting out over bumps etc - that sounds mostly like a poor installation issue to me.
I agree. When I read those reviews I formed the same opinion: poor installation.

I think I'm going to go with the DEH-80PRS or one of the Apline mech-less units that replacd the iDA series.

I'll be the guinea pig on the 2-din console insert 3-D printed.

If you were serious and can mock something up I'd buy it.

Say the word and let me know where to send my monies.

I am planning on making one from wood and cover it with leather (I happen to have the right green leather for my car).
Since I am the owner of this idea, the intellectual property is clearly mine so the money can be sent directly to my bankaccount. Thank you.

I might even make some extra of these

patent pending

When you say the ''right green leather'' you wouldnt happen to be by chance talking about the rare grey green colored interior would you?

If so it just so happens I have the same color in my car

Sounds to me like maybe it was meant to be

Default Porsche Classic Head Unit

Has anyone actually fitted one of these? I'm really keen to get one from an authenticity perspective but I want to be sure it fits well in the dash (doesn't sit proud, which looks rubbish in a 928) and looks good in situ.
