Ow long should you let your car warmup before driving? I usually like to let it sit about 15m in cold weather and 5m in how weather just to make sure the oil is warm. Sometimes, I am running late and need to just start it up and drive. How long do you usually let sit and warmup before driving. Of course I don't just immediately jump on the freeway with it, or drive at high rpm. I usually will drive about 5mph through the neighborhood before going the speed limit on the street.
Engine is not fully warmed up till the oil pressure comes back from the stratosphere and settles at idle to 2-3 then hammer it as much as you want. Keep under 2k till the coolant is warm then 3/4k till oil is good.

Boxster S manual actual says to NOT let the car idle to warm up, drive it. Goes on to say to keep it under 4K rpm until warmed up. In other words, just drive it, but don't flog it.
My experience has been that "warm" for a 928 is a little different than your iron block daily driver. It seems like I have to drive it for at least 15 minutes before it is up to temp and performing like it should. Until then the best way to describe how it revs and drives would be "stiff". I try not to get on it until the it at least gets close to the "normal" temp bar, but that temptation is difficult to resist.
I speculate that "warm" also means warming up the (manual) transmission oil, not just the engine. Obviously that can't be done sitting at idle in the garage. Another speculation is that an aluminum engine will not retain heat as well as an iron block and take longer to get up to temperature. Just some of things I ponder from time to time.
It takes me 2 minutes to start the car and go uotside the garage, then I leave the car 5 minutes idling...first kilometeres with 2k rpm max, then I raise rpm progressively ...
With fuel injection i didnt think there was a warm up period just like no break in period when you buy a new car. I just jump in my car and hit the key and drive it it stumbles or anything i know i have a problem. Bac in the day with carbs and chokes and the machining in building the motors you needed to break them in and warm them up...when i bought my first new car in 79 a 280zx and i asked the dealer about break in he said just drive it and have fun.

Like these ^^, oil needs to warm up and get to places, coolant needs to warm-up also. My Motorcycles also need a warm-up or they will let you know on the first shift.
