Roger, Adrian: sorry for having created this "excitement", I should have posted a more clearer picture and/or explained upfront.
This is nothing more (nor less) than a very large 13mm (IIRC) wrench, that was only temporarily attached to the PS pump side (for easier removal of one of the banjo bolts "in situ"). The angle of my posted picture makes it look like a support stay, but it is not.

I used this stuff https://www.ryco.com.au/resources/hy...dex.html#p=146 on my power steer hoses when I had them rebuilt. When I did the fuel delivery line on the other side, I also encased that , so that any leaks would fall out the bottom rather than spray the exhaust.
