Correct because probably all they were insuring was an average 928 and that is what the premiums were based on. So yes getting more is ALWAYS a challenge after the fact.

Michael-
Greg makes two different rebuilt lines, using the metal pipes and banjo ends of the originals. As you can see in the pic, the metal end closer to the rack is different between 87-90 and 91-95 (different positioning of the bracket that holds the pressure and return lines to the frame rail), and the latter hose has the restrictor in its midportion.
The picture I posted is the old factory pressure hose from my '93, illustrating the '91-95 hose, and Greg's rebuilt hose is the fitment for '87-90. I was going to use it on the Zombie, which is an '88, but then decided to continue to use the electric power steering setup.
Hilton, it's interesting you mention the spacer donut, that sucker is tight on Greg's line- not sure how he even got it there....

Yesterday finished my rebuild of the power steering lines. I think they have been changed at some point (or car has not been driven much) as they looked in good shape, no cracks or melted (?) stuff found.
So I did not replace them, instead I put on these: http://www.thermotec.com/products/14...mo-sleeve.html to both lines that run near exhaust manifold. I used the 1 1/2" version.
Things to notice:
- you cannot use the std. seating clamp of the pipes, you need to be creative there. What I did I left out the plastic and wrapped Thermotec's around the pipe. Finally I put in the metal clamp and screw'd it in - seems to do the trick.
- Thermotec comes as 12ft (3.6m) or 90cm lengths. Both work, 90cm is actually more than enough for each line.
- That large rubber on the pressure pipe won't go through 1 1/2" hose so I removed it and put it on back on top of Thermotec.
- I put the sleeves all the way from connection to the end. The effort is minimal compared to having it half-cut...
Unfortunately my camera was not at garage. I'll try to get pictures of the installation later.

This case has sort of happy ending after all. Insurance company paid well enough and owner can keep the car. It will very likely live on as full track car as engine internals can be saved.
Owner just returned from Sweden with 100k km's driven '93 manual GTS. Its way too good for track duty. Option list is long but most is normal stuff in any GTS.

Front seat centers look like they are from period 911 or 968. Did GTS get those in sport seats or should they be same deeper design as in earlier seats? Other than that seats look like they should so this can be from factory.

Erkka:
The seats in the GTS are not 928 seats. There was never a factory option to order 964 seats for the 928.
That charbroiled one has an interesting intake - what's the story behind it?

In all that car had lots of very interesting things done to it. Carbon fibre brakes for example required almost complete front hub re-engineering. How many 928's in the world have 350mm carbon brakes? Any other around anywhere besides this charbroiled one?

Threads like this make me feel lucky - 5 years ago I parked my 89 after a short drive with clouds of smoke coming out of the front-left engine bay, it was my PS line, leaking from inside the factory sleeve and dribbling onto the manifolds. No fire, and I drove home with the PS pump belt cut.

If not, I suspect the seats are factory. How are the back seats?

What a shame. Any before pics ? Thermo-Tec heat sleeves on the Just Peachy build. Great thought Hilton regarding leaving a hole in the low point of the sleeves.www.thermo-tec.com T

Both have heat. Rears are normal 928 like one would expect. If there were any difference compared to these codes I wouldn't even ask but everything looks original, there is full service book etc.

The seats are certainly original then, even if unusual.
The first owner maybe preferred the 964 Turbo seats.
No 09991 option code?
