I have a S4 I bought that was flooded. we did get the car to run. it only had 77k miles on it. the water never made it past the radio. the insurance company said the car was a complete loss. so I got it with a salvage cert. I have decided to strip it down to the last nut and bolt. I did this on a BMW forum with a M6 and the members liked it they asked me to take pics of things never seen before. I only will be doing this work on the weekends so I will update every Monday. if you want any pics of something just let me know. we will not be taking short cuts everything will be taken apart like it should we are stipping this car for parts but nothing is for sale

I assume that you will put it back together after cleaning/fixing/replacing the items that were submerged in water?

A few years ago, one of the publishers (sorry, don't remember which one) wanted to pay me to do the same thing. I very definitely wasn't interested, which is part of why I don't remember (the other part is probably senility...). Might be worth investigating the auto book publishers to see if anyone still wants to do it.

This car is not being saved. We are stripping it for parts. This car would have a branded title if put back on the road. The branding would be the worse also "flood damage" which just kills its value. This car was flooded at a repair shop that just did a full service timing belt and whole nine yards. This car also has all records with it from new. Its a shame but the value is not there for a rebuild. The sum of it parts are worth more

My first thought was - "cool, he got a flooded car chaeap which he'll turn into a driver...." - that you'd strip the interior and simply refurb and drive.

But I can see you are dismantling and selling off. Pretty car and, maybe I'm missing something but could it have been rehabilitated despite being flooded or is that just too problematic?

its a 1987, build date 12/86. I have 3 928s but not a S4. this car was truly loved by the owner. over course of the next weeks you will see that every nut and bolt will be removed in the fashion as if it had to be reassembled. people just hack things up when they strip a car for parts. it always makes me sick when I go to a junkyard and see how cars are hacked up. as far as parts for sale I have no idea let what if any will be for sale at this time. this is auto car also
