Default Anyone know what to make of this '78?

http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/cto/4431587123.html

No affiliation, but odd car, dash is euro, VIN is US....
9288100088

Also does not have any other euro stuff on it other than H4's, but side markers are not US either? Was it hacked together or is this the way this car came?

I like the colors, Black with Pascha '78 5 speed no sunroof...

Looks like it could be a good project car. If it is in running condition and no rust, the price might not be too bad.

The side markers are like that because when it was imported over, they had to add side markers on, so they put external ones on it. Sort of ruins the car... Other than that it's pretty neat, gotta love pascha!

That's a RoW VIN.

Very early Euros had no sidemarkers (~300)

- There are some lights on, on the dash- I haven't began to look into them

Yeah, nothing to worry about.

Jim - forgot that the "1" means ROW...Pretty neat car - originally Silver per door paint tag - Pasha actually looks blue/black - car pretty much the same as my '78...were the rub strips added later or were they available in '78? I would assume they were added along with the later wheels and spoilers...

That's interesting - would this car therefore be the 78th built, i.e. the 78th '78?

# 88 ROW car? Nice and early in any case as shown by the center vents.

Yep!

Makes it appealing.

Early-style vent louvers were used on the first 1000~

The rub strips look aftermarket to me, as the rear ones look to extend farther back than normal (see the right side pic relative to the fuel filler door). Possibly just glued on.

I would love to have an early car, and this one is right in my backyard. But alas, lack of budget stands in the way...

Aftermarktet or not they don't belong to early MY cars.

If engine and gearbox are still original might be good idea to put it into dry storage to wait for prices to go up.
