Stolen 928 Racecar/trailer recovered!
I am SO HAPPY to report that my '79 Porsche 928 racecar and trailer were recovered yesterday. I just picked them up this morning and found no damage. The thieves broke the side door hasp, and I haven't found anything that was removed except for a transistor radio. The small jack & jack stands were even left.
I appreciate all of the assistance, empathy, kind words and deeds of my family and Rennlist friends all around the world. I always had hope that it would be recovered, but didn't expect it to be so soon.
The police dusted for prints, so I have a small clean-up job ahead of me. No complaints there!!
Thanks to everyone and I'll see you on the track this fall!!

Someone must be looking over us all. With two quick recoveries, you can only count your blessings. I think that once they saw what they had stolen, They probably thought the value was so high that if caught they would throw away the keys.
I am sure that you will enjoy racing it just that much more.

Rich,
So glad its home!
Obviously they had no clue what they were stealing - nor any idea what to do when they discovered what was inside.
Great that there was no other damage or loss though.
Phew - what now - more trailer Immobilisation, alarm, GPS...?
or low tech: paint the whole trailer Hot Pink (that would probably do it) eek!
Seriously - a bold band of color all round might be a good idea to avoid it looking just like all the other big white trailers?
Great news
Alan

Most car thieves want to steal something they can strip, and sell the parts.
That car is already stripped, and there is not much of a market for stolen 928 parts.

Rich I hope you can post pics of the dudes that did this. I have a gut feeling it was more than 1 guy.
Somebody broke into my brothers bronco 3 times and keep stealing all the stereo gear. Each time he smashed several windows to get in. The cost on my brother over windows, damage and lost goods was around $3,000. One night the cops rang out doorbell just before 5 AM and woke us up. I open the door and see the car smashed again and this guy handcuffed on our sidewalk and cops everywhere. A neighbor going to work saw this idiot and called 911 (not the car).
They caught this guy red handed in my brothers car! He got something like 4-5 years+ in prison and had a car full of stolen goods. That was such a good feeling of justice that morning. Then you are thankful for Cops and see the public service they do.
I'm sure you feel alittle like that now.
