928 roll cage??
Hey guys, I know this is so strict racing forum, but for those out there with a 928 racer, do you know where I can get a roll bar kit at?
I tried summit but nothing looks right, I think a 1999 ford mustang gt would be close match. What do you guys think? Thanks

Your ever-present typos not withstanding... check your 928 racer bud Kibort for his recommendations.
Other racers like Mark @ 928Intl; Tom Falkenberg; John Veninger & Lloyd may have some insights as well.
928s are so uncommon, I would think a custom build would be the order of the day.

He wants a full roll cage and not just an Autopower bolt in ROLLBAR....that said it has to be custom. The problem with trying to make something for another car work is you can not legally extend any tube which might be too short !! Plus getting it up tight to the roof is a challenge even when you cut and bend every tube yourself...and yes I have done that for a 928 cage I was bright enough to get it professionally TIG welded.

I agree - do not confuse a bolt-in roll BAR with a welded-in roll CAGE.
BIG DIFFERENCE. We offer BOTH.
Our welded-in roll cages are here, with pricing:

Lots of good info on that page - read it!

He already has a Devek 4 point bar. Plenty good enough for DE....only need a full cage one you start wheel to wheel racing!!!
Tube size, wall thickness, alloy/material, and gusseting are all items that vary from sanctioning body to sanctioning body. Number and location of side-impact door bars vary also.

What Carl said.
There is -no such thing- as a cage good enough for DE, but not race legal.
If its not race legal, it is determined unsafe enough to probably kill you easier than not having it at all.
Many sanctioning bodies, once they see 'race' stuff in the cabin, will look at it's legality to RACE with to judge of it's safe at all.
Cars go just as fast in a DE, as in a race...don't pretend that they do not.
$3k is not too much for a basic SAFE setup.

Awesome cage.
Some rule sets may judge the crossbar between the rear shock mounts as chassis stiffening, and apply big points.
Spec classes, although there are no 928 ones...generally specifically do not allow that in the rules.
Just a thought, if someone was doing a rules based classification setup.
Carl however..is not bound by those in his chosen classes.

do a weld in cage... you don't need as many bars as carl has. that x is not really needed, unless you are putting it in a flimsy Bmw!
you can get a good cage done for 2k that would work well. 6 point with two parallel bars at the doors.
you also want the side bars bow'ed out a bit. that's too close to the driver in case of a side impact.
passenger dual bars should be higher as you don't want the front of a Miata to fit through that opening and end up in your lap.
the diagonal, might be a problem for the rules too, as I think it has to be in the middle of the horizontal bar. (not sure about this)
point is, you need to get this installed by someone that knows what they are doing.
u are safe making the entire cage out of DOM 1.75 x .095 thickness tubing.
also make sure you go to the installer and bring your race seat. you need to make sure the horizontal bar is at the right height for the shoulder belts. if they angle up from your shoulders to the bar, the cage will be illegal for most sanctioning bodies.
I can check with Borelli what they are charging to put in a cage. my guy did a few Grand Am GS cars, but I think he closed up shop.
