Another interesting point regarding U-Haul. They would not rent a car trailer to me after their series of 20 questions, they informed me that the 928 would not "fit" because it sat too low.

Correct they know it IS too low...and the ramp angle too steep. Plus they have to be worried about **** Porsche a$$holes.....and liability.

I just picked up my 928 this past weekend and also had to travel about 500 miles. I used a 18' dove tail trailer that I had welded d-rings on each corner of the deck. I hooked straps to the factory tow hooks under the front facia and looped the rear straps around the trailing arms, hooking each straps other end to the D-rings. I centered the car over the tandem axles and it pulled great behind my F150. (ok, the mountains were not alot of fun but the weight distribution and security of the car were spot on)

Yes - I finally got rid of that bitch of a trailer - plus the ramps were like 60 pound each ....
