It looks like you've got a very special car - low mileage, but maintained, manual and Euro. Welcome and enjoy!

welcome. There is something special about standing at a gas pump filling your 35 year old car and having people wonder what the heck it is. -and then firing up that wonderful sounding V8.

And of course, welcome the one of the Nation's highest concentration of 928's... the North Carolina krew.

PM your info so I can add you to our spreadsheet (neilh is the 928OC rep for NC but I unofficially keep a running tally of 928'ers here on RL from NC).

BTW, it looks like your dash leather is salvageable... but the dash should come out to do it. After some conditioning to make it pliable again, reattach it underneath. The dash frame is metal, so it shouldn't warp like quarter panels or door cards will.
Thanks, I PM'd my info to you, let me know if you need anything else.

The other problem with the dash is somebody glued Velcro for a radar detector to it and an attempt to remove it was not successful. I don't really want to replace the dash covering because a) it could be expensive and b) it probably will look out of place with the other 30 year old leather in the car. But I'm not trying to create a show car, just one that looks nice. A lot of good DIY stuff on here, not sure if I'm ready to tackle that yet.

Looks like you may have a full leather interior. Post your VIN and I can let you know the options.
I sent you a PM with my VIN number, any info you can give me would be great.

Thanks,

Nice looking car. The 85 Euro has lots of potential for improvement, not that stock zoom isn't pretty good. It responds well to both exhaust and improved chips in the brains.

I can't offer you any easy solution on the dash, once it starts to shrink, replacement eventually is needed. The good news is that I don't think there is any issue with matching the factory leather.

When you can some shots under the hood would be nice to see.

Welcome to the group.

Beautiful car! You are very lucky to still have the H4 lights and rear fog light too.
Was it "Gray Marketed" into the US back in the 80s-90s or imported recently under the newer "25 year old" rules?

Electrical glitches are pretty common. What is going on? It can be grounds, relays, fuses, switches or "other."

I've found solutions for everything I needed to do on here. Sometimes it just takes a little searching, other times I needed to ask. The knowledge and experience on here is amazing. The willingness to offer help is really cool too.

Welcome to the "Euro LH" club. They are the best of the 16 valve cars. There's something special about the look of the spider intake. I love mine.

Welcome and congrats on the 928!

BTW - If you are not a PCA member yet, feel free to join us at our local Area Meeting this week at the Fox & Hound at NorthLake. Wednesday March 19th. We start gathering at 6. Meeting starts at 7:00.

As an added bonus one of the few people in this area that are qualified to work on 928's will be in attendance at the meeting (Jim Burton w/ Hendrick Porsche).

Grey marketed in the 80's when it was brand new, at least that's the best account I have of it's history.

Electrical glitches in order of annoyance:

- Radio won't keep station or pre-sets when the key is turned off, have to reset the station from 87.9 each time. Original Koln Blaupunkt with tape deck (I got rid of all my cassettes in the 90's).
- As soon as I start to move the main warning light comes on, once I hit the re-set button it stays off until the next time I turn the key.
- fuel gauge registers the right amount of fuel at startup then drifts upwards after a few minutes. I guess the good news is I always have 3/4 tank of gas, if I actually believed it. I've not been daring enough to find out if the low fuel light works yet.
- Driver side speaker goes in and out and crackles a little, passenger side does not seem to have a problem.
- Driver door courtesy light goes out once the door is 1/3 open.
- ABS warning light is on all the time.
- Once (and only once) my passenger side window would go down, but not back up. It was cold that morning, in the afternoon it worked fine and has never had the problem again.
- trunk lid releases (next to driver and passenger doors) don't work.

None of these make the car even 1% less fun to drive, but it would be nice if I could figure out how to fix most or all of them. My first step is find and clean all the grounds and electrical contacts. Hopefully this weekend. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
