Default Sunroof refresh write up

Just a thanks for everyone who has contributed to the sunroof removal tutorial.

The roof on our 82 was running very slow and then finally wouldn't move at all. Come to find out after much trouble shooting that the tiny springs that apply pressure to the brushes were weak and needed replaced.

While I was at it and the roof was out, we replaced the seals, cleaned/lubed everything and made sure the drains were clear. Now the roof runs as advertised with no leaks.

I hate to guess what a body shop would charge to do this fairly simple job.

I'm having a problem here. Does anybody have a link to the tutorial being praised?

See the 928 DIY forum - it's in there I believe.

edit - just checked, it's not there. Perhaps Hacker can move a copy over there.

Do a search by title for 'sunroof'.

That search comes up with 311 threads.

"Sunroof tutorial" comes up with two, one a repeat, but neither have any pictures. No pix in http://www.nichols.nu/tip805.htm either.

How hard is it, guys, when you've liked something you've just seen, to include a link?

I ask again, anybody got a link?

So which specific tutorial were you referring to?
Thanks,
Steve

Being a newbie, I cannot answer what was being referred to initially, but...

I've added Hilton's saved version of Dan the Pod Guy's write-up to the New Visitor FAQ thread.

^^

Randy ... Hilton saved a few more of Dan's write ups from his website before it was shut down. Maybe there are some others which would be worth including. It's a pity when info like that gets lost .. kudos to Hilton for saving it.
