Greg,

On average, what is the cost of a rebuilt (without the cost of removing and installing the transmission)?

What is the cost of a new one? I did a quick check on Pelican Website and the a new cost 13000$ ????

I also check on car-part.com, only one is available !!!

May be I should keep my spare transmission just in case

Totally dependent on what the individual transmission needs. Labor is $1200.

We used to be able to quote prices that would get people close (ie $2500), but now that they only seem to get rebuilt when they absolutely no longer function, that is no longer possible.

I take ones apart that need a syncro or two. I take ones apart that go into the dumpster (sans the remaining good pieces).

Remember, they two highest failure pieces inside the gearbox (the big spring for gearshift centering and the bearing for 5th gear) are NLA!

These transmissions are going to be like buying their weight in Cocaine, in a couple of years. I buy every reasonably priced "core" I can find.
