Default Manual Seats

The grey car has manual leather seats.
Was this common for an US 928 in 1980? Everything on this car is original, nothing has been touched.

yes - the early cars did have the manual seats; not sure when electric first came in, but pretty sure it was just an option for the first couple of years that they were available.

BTW, manual seats weigh a lot less and do not break! They are more desirable to me.

+1
I just sold some manuals, those were fun to lift multiple times, and ship. Not to mention the ones in my car only work sometimes, and the fuse blows every ten minutes.

My 81 competition edition has the fully manual sport seats.

They are the same as the 911 sport seats from the same era.

My manual seats are very comfortable too.

Wonder if they sit you a bit lower too?

you are a tad lower. My 81 competition car came with power seats. when i sent them to paul to get re done, i used some manual seats. they are light and fit nice. but now that i have new paul seats.... ya... me like them mucho better

I think manual sport seats ended after 84 (with the 911 style seat). Definitely gives you about an extra 2 inches of head room though.

I have manual sport seats in my 81 that I plucked out of a parts car.

They offer much more head roof especially since I have no sun roof, and they hold you in the bends much better than the comfort seats.

I would however still use my comfort seat for road trips, much squishier.

Seats that came out of the 79 donor car used for Just Peachy are manual and are very comfortable. T

Manual seats with full leather dash here. MY 79. I agree, lighter and less things to break. No sunroof either. Your 928 looks really clean. More pix please.

I put some manuals in my '81 replacing the shredded power ones. They're good, I think the power ones were slightly more cushy though.

All of our used seats are upstairs and every time I have to carry a power 12 way down I dread it. Frickin bricks
