Default 87 S4 35K miles available

I meet an older gentleman last night at a Mardi Gras party that has a 87 5 speed, black on black, 35K miles supposedly in perfect condition all around with fresh WP/TB that he is wanting to sell.

He is located in Humble, TX east of the Bush Airport in Houston and I have no interest in this car one way or another. He is going to send me his information and I can forward if anyone might be interested.

I do not have any pictures of his car or have ever seen it and will not post an asking price. I'm just a go between for a very nice guy. PM me if interested and I will forward his information when I get it. Thanks.

Wow!
This could be quite a nice car for anybody looking for a low millage, 5 speed 928.
Of course, all depending on maintenance/price asking.
GLWS to this gentleman.

I am new to rennlist, but I saw this post and had to reply.

I have been looking for an 87 S4 5 speed with low miles for about 6 months now with little luck. This was the car that I had on my wall when I got my license at 16 and can now afford to have one... Not a huge fan of black, but I would love to check this one out. Can you please send me the contact so I can pursue? Thanks, Jason

I feel like 20 is a little steep... Wouldnt this thing have to be immaculate to command such a price?

Nope, sounds about right for a 35k mile manual S4 in good condition. Depending on the actual interior/exterior condition, and whether its an unusual color combo, it could be worth more than that.

There's a pretty big jump in value for manual 87-95 compared to 86 and earlier.

Consider the cost of taking an average 120-150k '87 S4, and bringing it back to 35k condition. If the car is unmolested and was stored well (climate-stable) it is easily worth 20's.

If it was an '89 I'd be all over it at that price.

If it is all original paint and very nice.....huge value just in that !! And frankly $20k or so is not much for a true 170 MPH car could be a great deal...

There's a velvet red 89 with 38k miles an hour east of Houston for 18k, but it's an auto. http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/4351561327.html

I might be able to help check out this 87 out if needed. Always fun when cars like this show up.

Has anyone had any luck pursuing this lead? I am interested, if anyone has further info.

Thanks,

Jason

Very very nice. I would jump on it if the PPI came through clean.

plus many people will sell for less than what they would have liked to get.....if 18k would make them happy perhaps they would accept being a little bit less happy

look at the OP's original post - send him a pm if interested, and he'll send you more info and presumably contact info. If you want to see this car, you may want to act fast and get a look at it or at least talk to the owner.
