2014 marks 100 years since Sir Ernest Shackleton's Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition set-off in 'Endurance' for the antarctic, a truly great survival story in the face of terrible conditions.
Shackleton is reported to have advertized for crew members thus:
"Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in event of success"
So what does this have to do with 928's? - Not much - BUT - you are here.
I need a few good men/women for a non-hazardous non-journey, no wages, it may be bitter cold where you are, darkness hours may be long, however survival is guaranteed and there will be honour and recognition for our success.
I need owners of USA model year: 95 and owners of ROW model years: 79, 93 to volunteer a few hours of your service for a very worthwhile cause for the 928 owner community.
We have new 928 relay & fuse diagrams for all years (there will be more other details also soon) these need to be quality checked to ensure they are the highest possible accuracy. Later when you need to reference these for your model year - you will want to know they are reliably correct...
I have done my best to ensure accuracy but I need fresh eyes and owners with the actual model year cars to compare these against.
See: https://rennlist.com/forums/11132727-post31.html
Step up and commit your name against a model year you own. You have until end day Sunday March 9th (still almost 3 weeks) to complete this work and provide feedback - if you can commit to do it by then please sign up.
More Details: See: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...eferrerid=6055
Imagine if you had an issue with your car and >> THIS << was the only additional resource you had available to you - you'd be as confused as can be...
Mostly this work will be an indoor task - compare the diagrams against all the other data you have:
- Fuse/Relay tables on the materials attached to the CE Panel cover of your car
- Materials at 928 Specialists (928 Fuse/Relay Charts) (there are some known issues with this data)
- PET for your year
- Any notes you have made, any other documents you have
Finally compare this against what is actually installed in your car (you may get to learn & fix some things here...)
Then feedback to me (on the main thread or via PM) with details:
1) Any improvements to the base diagrams for mistakes, clarity, notes needed etc
2) What items you have verified as correct for Fuses & for Relays (e.g. you see no anomalies wrt your model year/car)
3) Any issues you have identified, and against what source materials (what is the correct/alternate data, weblink?)
4) What items you have been unable to verifiy either way (for whatever reason). Hopefully not too many here...
More detail is always better for me - if you have different relays installed - tell me what, different fuse ratings?
Final Product:
BTW various vendors and the 928OC will host these docs long term when completed and Mark at 928 Intl has comitted to replacing the erroneous details linked above with these improved docs...
PLEASE HELP
Alan

3 MORE FEW GOOD MEN (/WOMEN) NEEDED... (for now...)
Now needed:
Owners of USA model years: 95 and owners of ROW model year 79, 93 [updated 2/21!] to volunteer a few hours of your service for a very worthwhile cause for the 928 owner community.
OK for those of you who can't do this yourselves - is there someone you can suggest to do this who has one of these USA model year cars, and you think could do a good job... PM me and I will contact them directly. Longer deadline for ROW cars means we have some time there...

How would one go about doing this Alan? I am NOT an electrically talented guy. Are you tracing wire colors? My sons car is a 1980 but I am not sure I would be qualified....but if I could I will.

Dean - See post #1 description - its mainly comparing documents, relay part numbers and fuse details - there is no requirement for tracing any wires - just words and numbers. It is work for sure -and takes some time to be thorough - but it is not technical or difficult and requires little to basically no electrical knowledge.
I would also like you to compare the diagram with what is actually installed in the car (e.g. fuse ratings by position and relay ID # by position).
All pretty easy stuff to do. On the main thread see what Martin did - that is above any beyond - I'd love it if everyone could do that much detail - but it isn't required, you can see other examples on that thread too.
