Roger do you have one of these to look at: 928 612 473 00

I suspect it is a simple Brass bridge that links terminals 86 and 87 (rather than 30 and 87 as with 928.615.125.00)

Can you confirm? its certainly too cheap to be a real relay and this is the only function that makes sense to me ?

Roger does Flasher 111.953.227.D still exist?, does it SS to 1H0.953.227

Is the optional Trailer Tow Flasher: 928.615.131.00 still available?

Pelican lists 111.953.227.D as available to ship today at $7.50.

They list 928.615.131.00 as potentially available from Porsche at $55.75.

Several variants on 1H0.953.227 are listed at various price points all under $10.

928 612 473 00 I have never ordered one but I am in 100% agreement that it is a metal bridge and not a relay.
Part 111.953.227.D does SS to 1H0.953.227 - Correct
928 615 131 00 does exist but slim pickings as only 15 sitting in Germany

Its not likely one of these will ever fail/wear out!

Anyone have a photo of a 928.612.473.00 installed in panel - I'd like to be sure what it looks like. It will be installed only in 1982-1984 manual cars - in position XIV.

Well its interesting - I only found that detail on the 928 specialists site relay listing. I don't really see it called out in the diagrams at all. An 87/86 bridge would work but doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me...

Early cars 77-81 had no start relay so the ignition switch starter terminal directly switches the starter solenoid current. Starting in '82 it seems all cars were wired for a true starter relay where the ignition switch controls the relay and the relay switches the starter solenoid current. This bridge if it were there would revert to the old directly switched model - which seems odd - since the relay wiring is there. Now previous cars used a different bridge in the starter blocking relay and later cars used no bridge so its not like this is a hold over/adjacancy mistake - and this bridge actually exisits - so interesting where the listing came from...

Roger can you see where else - and for what years (if anywhere) this bridge is used?

I'd suggest all owners install a 53B relay there (and maybe all cars actually came equipped this way...?). This reduces the load on the ignition switch so may make it last longer...?

Automatic 82 uses a 53b in the same slot.
So 82, 83 & 84 show the bridge for XIV 928 612 473 00 for manual cars and 53B for auto.
In 85 XIV reverts to 53B only

Is it used anywhere else? anyone have a manual 1982-1984 with a bridge in relay posistion XIV?

Unless manual cars have any different wiring (not shown in WDs) I see no reason why the bridge would be needed.

Later starter relay wiring includes a transmission lockout on the 85 coil connection - so you can only start in park for Auto's - this must be grounded for manuals.

In '82-'84 this doesn't seem to exist (so I assume you can start in drive? - not ideal...).
