64 bit PET ???
I haven't opened my PET Catalogue recently, and since the last time I did I have a new computer with W-7 64 bit. My PET won't open since it says it is a 32 bit program. Does anyone know if there is a 64 bit PET disc available? I do have an old W-XP 32 bit computer (which I hate and would use for shotgun practice if it didn't have one critical program I still need on it).
Thanks to anyone who knows how to find such a disc.

Hi Ron:
I think you have to have one of the 'Above basic' windows 7 packages, so you can download Windows Virtual pc from the microsoft web site, you then load your PET onto this partition and it should run fine, will also run all of you older software.

Thanks Geoff. I had been using Windows Virtual PC on my W-XP 32 bit computer not long ago to run 64 bit programs, which is just the reverse of your suggestion. I'll investigate their site for it again and take your suggestion.

The message I got was that my system would not support the 32 bit program on the disc (PET) in my drive. It did work in my W-XP machine.

Ron,
Does your W7 have XP Emulation mode? (pro or ultimate only I think...)

Hello Bob:
I don't know, but I have two machines, and both have W-7. I think one is "professional" and will boot it up now to find out. I'll be right back.

I'm running Win 7 Pro SP1, which allows you go download Windows Virtual PC or Win XP Mode, that emulates 32 bit XP and allows PET 7.x to be run in that environment.
Downloadable for Win 7 Pro, Ultimate, and Enterprise.

I have W7 professional on one machine which is really Jane's machine when she's here. On my machine, I have W7 something else but it has "Windows XP mode". I suspect it might work on 32 bit programs. I use it for some professional education programs that are 32 bit because the Board had not updated them until well after 64 bit machines came out. I'll try that program. If you don't hear from me again for awhile, it's because I am lost down a dark place and can't find my way out. But I can use the other machine.

I discovered I have Windows Virtual PC to run XP. I am in that now and waiting for it to open PET. It is taking a long time, which is what I dislike about W XP. But it is accepting it. Thanks to all.

Now I remember why I don't like W XP. "This program is not responding"
That is all I saw from that program on both computers. Drove me up the wall. W 7 did away with that so far and life became good again. Well, I'll keep trying. I'm just trying to find exactly where to find the Idle Stabilization thing so I can change it tomorrow.
