Interesting 928 Analysis
I was going thru this book by Denis Jenkinson, and found it interesting. It was published in 1983, as a "retrospective". I hope the scan quality is good enough to read.
A lot of the jargon we have heard before, but I enjoyed his grudging admiration for our "newer" Porsche!
I loved his mention of the body style being "bulbous and Germanic" and his assessment that you would have to be an "unmitigated idiot" to have an accident in the 928 under normal road conditions.
Cheers, Dave.

Excellent quote:
It should be considered part of the basic lore associated with the Shark, like the timeless Jeremy Clarkson quote:

I'm glad you guys enjoyed this as much as I did.
Jenkinson is a good story teller, and the entire book is a pretty good read.
There was a segway into the 944 on the next page, the 928 content was essentially done -- the last sentence was... "What the 928 will be like when it has had as much development as the 911, or the 356 before that, hardly bears thinking about."
One could argue that he assumed the 928 would be in production much longer than it was.
Several additional observations:
1. I was drooling over the mint, OB, right hand drive, Euro pictured with the pasha interior.
2. Not the kindest review of the 924...
3. I could picture Mr. Tyson rubbing his hands together and cackling when the author stated that the further development of the automatic transmission in the car would make it perfect.

the 928 was produced for a very long time just NOT developed all that much...
The 924 deserves to be panned as a parts bin Frankenstein of a car supposed to have been a VW until the last minute when VW pulled the plug...
And automatics are for people who are two busy doing something else with their "free" hand....
But a fun read !

My 1993 MY GTS 5-spd also had that number plate THE928S at first registration as it was the Porsche Cars UK press car for 9 months...
As to panning the 924 - hmm, now that I have a 944 Turbo S, they are actually great cars...
