Hi Bucko,

Yes we have always sold Lloyds mats from the beginning and always stated so. They were ( I assume still?) the only supplier to PCNA for the Porsche authorized Floor Mats as long as I can recall. When you bought Floor mats at the Porsche dealer (in the US) they were made by Lloyds.

Plus they were gracious enough many years ago (at my relentless urging :-) to change ALL of the 928 Logo embroidery to the correct artwork (supplied by me) for all of the different 928 Model Designations. Prior to that you could only get "Porsche" or a script type 928 Logo that was incorrect.

The changes to the artwork/logos I talked them into many years ago is still what you see available today.

For fun here is a screen cap below of my website back in 2000 (thanks to WayBackMachine) clearly showing the mats were made by Lloyds as we have always done.

Cheers,

Dave

I have the Porsche (Tequipment) and Lloyds mats, as well as rubber mats. There may be different grades of the Lloyds, but the ones I have are not great. The carpet does not really feel like an automotive carpet. More like a rubber backed **** or something. Too deep. There is no provision for attachment or latching them down at all. No rubber bit under the pedal area. The fit is not awesome, although they are in my convertible which has side reinforcements so is narrow. But I think the fit was a little off in the S4 too. They are light grey and have faded very badly and now look pretty bad.
The Tequiptment mats fit better, have attachment points, and look pretty good after many years. However, the foam backing has started to fall apart. I get little bits of foam everywhere and will have to pull the whole layer off. I kind of have a sense that pulling that layer off is not going to be the end of it, that they are going to continue to fall apart. But that is just a guess.
The rubber mats I have came in my GTS and I don't know the source. They appear similar to Hexomats. http://www.floormatexpress.com/rubbe...s/hexomat.html. A patterned rubber mat that appears hand cut to fit. They do the job of keeping the carpet underneath clean. And seem like that will not look worse with time.

That's interesting info. They make a big deal on their website about how great the fit is as well as how all their mats have attachment points. I wonder if they've changed their design? Are you sure that they're not knock-offs?

I actually got the hexomats in Karl's link above, not as pretty as carpet but I figure they'll handle my sons baseball and lacrosse cleat crud better and will clean up nicer

Dave, Thanks for the clarification. I do love the model designation matts rather than the standard "PORSCHE" that I currently have and will more than likely ditch these for a nice new set when the recarpeting of my 928S begins.

Its because of dedicated people like you and Jeannie who keep the 928 'alive' and make restoration and improvement of these beasts so enjoyable.

The problem with the factory mats could easily be that they are new old stock......just like the corrugated plastic spare well covers with foam backing would come in from Porsche with the backing as just a pile of dust in the plastic bag....
And yes Llloyd had the PCNA approval to use the Crest for many years, then for a few was NOT on the approved list. Then paid the fees and was able to make matts again using the model designations but not the Porsche family crest since the family decided it was disrespectful to have people putting their dirty feet on the crest .....
What I liked was Lloyd would personalize and print your name on the matts so your car or my wife's 928 said " Roxann " ....Why say Porsche or 928 or GTS because if they have not figured it out by the time they are in the car....it probably does not matter The embroidery as it is often contrasting and/or lighter does tend to soil more easily.
