84 EURO S Central Warning issue

84 EURO S Central Warning issue
Dear all,
I am trying to help a fellow rennlister in The Netherlands who recently purchased a 1984 EURO S Strosek (he posted an intro post a few weeks ago).
He has an issue with the central warning system. Basically the problem is that the system remains in the light-check function (all dash-lights go on and stay on after starting the engine).
When starting the engine, the oil pressure goes up to 5 bars, voltmeter to 13-14 volts and the volt check light goes off.
ABS light also goes off, but the rest remains on and cannot be reset with the ! button.
It seems as if the central warning module is not getting signal from the alternator exciter wire, but he found a blue wire going to the central warning module that has 0 volts with engine not running, and a good 13,5 volts with running engine.
He also replaced the module with a known good one, but no change.
Does anyone have a good wiring diagram for the central warning module (928 641 602 01 partno)?
Cheers

Hi,
This may be too obvious, but did you try to disconnect the battery for a few minutes to see if the system "resets"?
Some time ago when my brake master cylinder was replaced, after all was know to be ok I had 2 or 3 brake warnings in the dash, I don't remember exactly what they were, but I remember they only got away after disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.
Just an idea.
Regards

Its seem that the alternator charges as it sends 13,84Volts to the battery. As for the charge controle wire (blue) it also gives the 13,85Volts to the Central control box.
Also the relay box is different then any charts i can find on the internet, and the wires on the yellow and black plugs are not equevalant to the diagrams of either '85 or '84....
Im stuck i guess..

IIRC this was said to be "known" Ignition Switch issue, and it was posted recently.

"The switch which is behind the ignition lock often when it begins to fail you must turn the key hard to the right to engage the starter motor and or the warning lights all are illuminated when in the "run" position."

I took the switch out and cleaned it...
now the funny part is that when the engine is on all the lights are still on..
when i turn the key to the off position slowly and turn it back on when the engine stops, all my warning lights go out...so then it work..
this is a faulty ignitionswitch ?..

The ignition switch was tested and works like it should (checked with diagram).
Warning lights are still on all the time.
What does work is the following:
Start car
Turn back key until car shuts down, quickly switch ignition back on, and the lights go out.
Everything then works like it should (e.g. warning light starts blinking when pulling up parking brake, etc.)
If the above works you cannot start the car again (because ignition switch needs to go to 0 position to allow start again), but when starting the car by jumping the starter relay everything works like it should.
So now the grand prize question is, what is the precise trigger for the central warning module to exit the light-test mode....
Does anyone have a definitive answer?
Many thanks!

From 1984, the central warning lamps are extinguished (exit test mode) by the alternator charge on terminal 61.
After the lamp test, the central warning computer is ready to indicate faults after 2 seconds according to the manuals.
Cheers!
