Before applying these aero bits to my track car, I thought I'd take them for a spin on my desk.



Seemed to make my court pleadings travel through twists and turns at the court clerk's office faster, although I did notice that the top speed of my settlement conferences were down a little on the top end.

928 MS splitter (Thanks Carl!) which probably weighs less than the cardboard box it came it (very light).

And a Kognition carbon fiber wing with end plates. (Anyone have any suggestions on getting uprights made for this thing? )

In truth I'll probably do a rough fit of these to the car for painting/fitment, but don't plan on running them on the car for awhile. Plan to learn how the car is going to behave without the aero first.

I got Ed S.'s splitter for my Euro, Can't wait from spring to arrive and get it on... I'll be watching to see what you do with the CF wing. Looks bitchin' on the desk!

Check for rules on how high and how wide the wing can be- POC limits heights to 4'10" and no wider than the outer edge of the rear fenders. (The zombie's wing is 4'8" and about 1/2" inside the fender flares- had to go check when I read the spec...)

I've been looking at the SCCA rules ( I don't think POC races up here in the Rain City do they?) and the restrictions seem to follow the dimensions of the car: Lower than the roof line, narrower than the fenders, and can't extend beyond the rear bumper. I was concerned about the cord length, but it fits right at spec ( which I don't recall at the moment, I think 10-3/4"). I'm fairly confident my car won't pass tech the first time around, since I can't see the forest with all dang trees in the way .

Doesn't the zombie have a gurney flap on its wing? I thought I saw some additional rules on that as well, crazy.

All the rules are daunting, especially when our cars don't fit a particular class. Is there a GT class that works? The guys up here used to run ITE, but I don't see that class in the rule book any longer. Good times.

Using the POC classifying 'performance index' formula, with a stock engine the Zombie ends up in the better half of GT-3. (And I'm going to be a great moving chicane in that class...) I'm following all the POC safety regs for the Cup-race level cars, and then am counting on blissful ignorance for all the rest of it, the first time out. Car is headed to Greg's next week for idiotproofing.

Good to see you up and running Rob. I'm hoping to have the engine in the car by the end of the month, and having the MS wired up by mid February. That gives me a month to get the car tech'd and shaken down. It's still street legal, well I guess that's relative...., it's still got plates and lights, so I'll be able to put road time on it before the first track day.

Tight schedule, it will be close.

Ed's splitter is a cool mod, will look great on the GT. Any mods on the back end?, maybe add some tilt to the stock S4 wing?

The CF wing is pretty amazing, very light. This wing seems to have more curve than other's I've seen, it will be interesting to see what it does in "the clean air".

Actually the splitter is for the Euro... Haven't seen a good one for the S4s yet.

Mine on the other hand is made of some kind of space age, synthetic polymer, which will probably still be around when the sun red dwarfs and collides with the earth.

Actually, that 's not half bad. If I ever happen to rip off the spoiler on the GT, I will replicate that... but paint it black.
