Transmission line leak?

Transmission line leak?
This is for an early '86 928S US Auto.
I have what appears to be a leak at the line to the transmission cooler? Is this right? Passenger side line that goes underneath the compressor and to an end tank on the bottom right left (thanks jpitman) (facing engine) of the radiator. How hard is this to replace? Does the whole line go or can the hose be done by itself. I'm losing quite a by a fluid based on the spray and dirt around the bottom front the engine and under tray.

I think you mean bottom left facing the engine (the car's right). The bottom fitting is pretty accessible with the undertray removed (assuming similar to my 83?). The hose is not very long as its connected to a steel line coming from the rear. Take care with the counter holding - you dont want to turn the nut on the side tank, just the one on the hose. IIRC the big nut is 32mm. I had my hoses rebuilt, then found the genuine units were not very pricey, but its a few years ago now.

Thanks Jpitman. Yea, bottom left. Made the correction.
The fitting and hose is accessible with the under tray removed and just by jacking up the passenger side. Did you take out the whole (soft and hard) line or can the hose section be removed and rebuilt/replaced? I'm thinking this is maybe similar to the power steering hose replacement that goes from reservoir to hard line and I just dremel off a fitting, replace hose, and clamp it down?

You could do the similar process to the PS line, however, I had mine done by a professional because there is a good bit of pressure inside of those lines and I wouldn't want one to slip off.
I had one of my lines pour ATF in my driveway after I completed my A/C rebuild, I then had my lines rebuilt and have not had a drop since. Have them rebuilt, you won't regret it.

Avar, those lines are not "high pressure", but wind will spread the ATF all over the bottom of the car. The stock crimp ends are just too old and dried out to seal anymore. Try this thread: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...placement.html
Three good options listed.

Just unbolt the soft lines and replace them. My rebuilder seemed to add a few mm at each end - cant hurt can it ? Yes, it was enough to produce a kink in the short bottom hose, and I had to take it back to redo - measure yours as straight as you can get them before rebuild, and tell the rebuilder the same overall length is important.
I wouldnt use clamps in this area - its not as critical as fuel hose, but ATF is flammable, and the pressures may be higher than the fuel system.

Repost the direct forum link? That one doesn't work.
Never mind. I got it https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...placement.html
+ EDIT
Thanks everyone. Going to dive in tomorrow and call around for a rebuilder. Seems simple enough.

The original hose is crimped on the end....just a heavy duty clamp. As the hose shrinks from age, the amount of clamping force no longer is able to keep the hose tight on the line and they leak.
I've found a really exceptional looking (virtually impossible to tell the difference between this hose and the stock hose) and exceptional functioning replacement hose that I use crimp clamps on to secure. If you want the entire "kit" with enough parts to change all the hoses, Roger stocks them. If you just want to replace that one hose, measure how much hose you want and call Mary at the phone number below. She can ship you what you need, with the clamps.

Thanks Greg. You're a life saver. I'll certainly give Mary a call for those parts.
I think I found the hose from Porsche http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...=92230702302#a Still available but...yea...not paying $100 for that.
