Oops, many apologies, dunno how/why I added the last two numbers to the 15 digit VIN- my bad!

Anyway, if the 15 digits of the VIN in the ad are to be believed, there are six '91's between 2926MS810100 and 199 with a '6' in the check digit position, and that are automatics that could correspond to that red/tan auto with rubstrips.

WP0AA2926MS810115
WP0AA2926MS810129
WP0AA2926MS810132
WP0AA2926MS810146
WP0AA2926MS810180

The options on those 6 are remarkably similar (all sunroof, rear air, rubstrips, etc) , only 1 of them (the last above) has cloisonne crest center caps, which could have been transferred onto the Cup 1's shown in the pics. EDIT, scratch that thought- original factory cloisonne crest caps have a circular recess around the periphery, those on this car don't...

Annoyingly, that 86.5 falls into one of the VIN 'holes' in the database. Samuel or Hilton may have that one (?)

Samuel-

Dumb question: How do you know it's an 'S' from the PET options? From my naive read of the spec book, it could be an M28.10, or an M28.12 just based on it being a German '81 automatic, but I can't further differentiate with the options info spreadsheet.

You just need to have the VIN:
wp0zzz92zbs80... is a 928 (4.5l, 240 hp)
wp0zzz92zbs84... is a 928 S (4.7l, 300hp)

The 4 will remain after the end of production of the "base" 928, until 1990 when the S4 and GT will have a 0 at this position.
