Is M 406 a scandinavian thing for gravel roads?
I417 is the "saddle" between the rear seats?

Btw, a real nice car...

I looked last evening a YT video about important people in the car business from last decades, the doku is called "old school". Alte Schule in german.
The guy in this episode, Mr. Jürgen Pippig, a marketing guy told about his time at Porsche about the Le Mans days, the horrible F1 trip, no money, the arrival of W. Wiedeking
and in a few sentences especialy about the 928 five speed cars as a unbeaten long distance interceptor. King of fast Autobahn travel for 20 years.
He told the car had grunt like an bull over the whole drive range and he praised it in the highest tones 30 years later.

Mr. Stuck, a racer hide his red 928 facility car so he can drove it longer and must not change to a newer car. 996?
They loved the 928.

Ended up going down a bit of a rabbit hole on the M406 question- M406 was used to signify Jubilee editions in the 1982 ROW market. In the 1984 ROW market, there are 2016 cars overall, and roughly half (1093) have the M406 option. Those 1093 were all in the German, Swedish, Swiss, and Austrian markets. I somehow doubt that almost all of the German 1984 production had mudflaps, so the "Wheel housing protection, front left and right 83-86" refers to a change in the wheelwell liners due to the introduction of ABS. But only about 75% of the cars with the M406 option have ABS, and 60% of the cars without ABS DO have M406.

EDIT- The option code for Weissach edition cars is M462, not M406....

PET is a mess RE: wheelwell liner part numbers in the 84-86 front wheelwell liners thanks to S-spoilers or not, ABS or not, etc. And the full liners didn't appear until '85.

All of which is to say I'm not sure what M406 is, as used in 1984.

I 417 is the rear center console that incorporates the locking glove box, as opposed to the English saddle-looking rear console.

Thanks Rob,
my Austria S hasn‘t the seat heating like the data sheet says. Maybe between order and fabrication some weird things occur?
The trunk sticker is empty but unfortunately I didn‘t have the service booklet.
So maybe a lot of cars in that period have incorrect data sheets?
