Hi Rob,

I just bought this car. Do you know what kind of stereo head unit this car came with originally? No cd changer or holes or anything so I would have to assume a Blaupunkt Bremen?

The short answer is that I'm not sure- There are 28 Italian market GTSs for 1992 and only two of them list any radio at all. Both of those have I327 Blaupunkt Symphony RDSs. However, 100% of the cars have option M423 for cassette holding in the center console. I'd like to believe that they all got a cassette/radio headunit. Guessing that that would have been the Blaupunkt Symphony .

Samuel says he sees only 4 radio codes for 1992:

327: Blaupunkt Symphony RDS
331: Porsche CR-1
690: CD-Player "CD-10"
691: CD-Player "CD-2"

But the CR-1 was only listed in US market cars between '93 and 95.

About 60% of the German market '92s had the Symphony RDS as well, another 8% have a CD-10 and the rest have nothing specified for radio. 3 of 21 Swiss cars have the CD-10 listed as well, otherwise nothing.

None of the French '92s have a radio spec'd.

And so on.

I can't imagine that the dealerships were installing country-specific radios in every car not explicitly optioned with a radio (?)

Sorry I don't have a more definitive answer.

Thanks Rob. I ended up buying this car but it has a nice Becker head unit in it now and it looks very nice and clean so I'll probably just leave this one in there. And Blaupunkt Symphony radios just aren't available here in the US. They are on European eBay, but not here. If you happen to know of someone with a Blaupunkt Symphony radio that they would part with, please let me know Rob. But as I've learned with my last couple 928's, a lot of the extra OCD stuff that I seek out and have done doesn't always pay off at the end. Original stereos, unneeded timing belt changes, etc. This one is going to be a detail it and sell it car. It honestly doesn't need a single thing anyway. Not even a detail. You'll see it on BaT soon. Thanks again Rob for all of your help.

In this case is a 1987 Euro 928 S, with the S4 brakes and suspension.

Please, I need to decode the following VIN: WPOZZZ92ZGS840278

This car has some Z-options for interior pieces- please share pics of the interior if you can, it'd be helpful to identify what's non-standard from the regular 1986 color options.

Thanks for the pictures! The in-service (warranty start) date is listed as July 11, 1986, and the invoice date is October 21, 1985, so it sat for 8 months between being built and being sold. Is the sale date of June 1987 listed in the warranty book or is that the date that the car was first registered? (I have no idea how cars are registered for road use in Spain... )

I don´t have this information, because the car hasn´t the book warranty neither the book service. The only information that I have of the car is the number plate and the data sheet of the spanish rules.

I think that the shape of the car give me an idea of the good conservation of this unit. It has only 95.000 km, approximately about 59.000 miles....

Best regards,

Juandotto

GTS motors with 1R rods are all of the '92 and '93s, and early '94s up through mid-September '93 production. 2R rods started 9/14/93, with engines #00533 (5-speeds) and 50597 (autos).
