I'm not sure exactly what the I151 option 'deferring parts' means, there are 41 South African market cars in '85 that have this option, they're all M28.22 automatics. But there are 11 '85 S.A. M28.22 automatics that _don't_ have this option.

I seem to remember in the distant past having a discussion with Hilton of the deferring parts option. I don't recall that it was ever resolved or that it was an issue for part ordering.

My car has 1984 door skin trim bits so they may be a deferred part but that isn't part of the engine. Interesting that you see the option referred to in South Africa. Do you have reference figures for Australia?

The only place I151 is mentioned in the database is for these 44 South African market cars, relatively early in the '85 production run (between cars #360 and 566, except for one outlier at #997).

Hey Rob, exactly how does the 928 VIN system "work" ? Are all of the VINS "known" or at least able to be "calculated or assumed" Is it possible to develop a database of all 928 VINS? has it already been done? (outside of the factory system?)

Is my #0405 listed among the South African cars? Mix up somewhere maybe.

Mine is definitely Australia delivered and I have the "turbonator" air intake tubes which were for dusty environs I always thought. (They work too).

Odd that it is so limited in numbers as well.

Its all interesting.
