The amount of miles and country roads he's had that car on it should be due for an air filter change. Wonder if he's ready to take that rear bumper off yet?

Jim's rear bumper cover comes off about as easily as pulling the S4+ belly pans. Don't need ramps or a lift either.
There's a huge amount of development in the 911 cars.
----
Porsche mechanics used to be spotted easily by the burned hands and forearms, sore lower back, and the blown out knees on the pants, worn-through toes on the shoes. Virtually everything was done from the kneeling position behind the car. Oh, don't forget the fragrance of petrol in everything.

the local dealership had a great Sat session for us PCA guys and demonstrated engine access on the 991..........very well thought out, quick with minimal hand tools.

Three Wheelin'
Roger,
You took too many things apart to just tighten that bolt. Taking the distributor cap, then the rotor and finally the belt cover has always done it for me. No need to take the radiator hose off or the fan shroud assembly. You made it too complicated.

Back to timing belts!!!!
I have done more than 40 timing belt jobs. Part replacement depends a lot on the poor cars previous maintenance or lack of. I usually replace almost all parts. Most cars seem to only have had the belt replaced previously. I explain in detail that the belt has to be re-tensioned at 1500 miles. I don't bug the owner to have it done. It seems like no one does it. If the car comes back for other maintenance, I ask if it has been done. Almost always the answer is NO. So I do it. I have never heard of a failure of one of my jobs, but it scares the sheet out of me.
So, I am installing Porkens Audi system now. At least it is an automatic system so I don't have to worry about re-tensioning. It would be nice to make the warning light work.

I hope you discuss this with your customer first. If you did that to my car without my knowledge and valves crashed, I'd be expecting you to cover repairs.

Yes, I do warranty my repairs on either system.
Which brings up the question. Should I warranty a failed system where the customer ignored having the timing belt re-tensioned after 1500 miles?
It is the customers choice as which system he prefers.
