Default Hi from Ed, first post

New member, with an older Porsche. Nice to see you guys.

I bought my 1985 928s in October, I didn't know anything about them but quickly found out it was an amazing vehicle.

I joined PCA and confirmed what I already knew, now I'm hooked.

It has a classic look and feel and runs fast and true above 100 mph.
Looks like I'm in the market for a radar detector.

I've read articles to try and get a feeling about how others like or dislike the car, why the car was build in the first place, where the market is going ext...

The car has 99k, with a 5-speed, 2x black, sunroof, 4 cam, with 3 rear spoilers.
Was told the water pump and fuel pump was replaced. There is no paper work with the car, which I knew before I bought it.

I am a good mechanic, but not with Porsche so my buddies told me to visit RennsportKC here in KC area.

I have a list of things that needs to be checked out along with the timing belt.

If I can figure out how to post a pic...

You might want to trip over to 928oc.org. Besides another helpful site, the group is personally helpful, has tool loaner program and you can find people in your area. Like here, you can pay a fee for added features, but compared to what you get in return, it is very inexpensive.

Check out the new visitor thread here.

Welcome.

Hi Ed,

I'm Scott, and I live about 120 miles east of you in Columbia. I own an 86.5 and an 87 and I know my way around the car a bit. If you want to get together sometime PM me!

If you are a good mechanic, then this car will be a breeze to work on. I'm not a mechanic and figured out how to do a timing belt and waterpump job with the help of this forum.

There are at least a few KC guys that hang around here. Brent in Olathe has a couple 928's and is pretty active.

Seeing how you included a pic on your inaugural post makes me think you'll fit in well around here.

Welcome to the Asylum.

Thanks, every bit of help I would be very welcome

2 questions... if I can post more than 1 picture.

Sorry they are so big

Never seen an upper wing or a lower wing like this on a 928.

I've seen many intake manifolds, but this one looks like a later model. True?

Welcome Ed. The lower wing is stock for an S model. The upper wing has been added and appears to be aftermarket. What part of KC are you in?

That looks like an S4 engine to me.

The lower wing looks like a Jacquemond, top one as well but not quite.

Engine looks like an S4. No Temp II sensor, so no cats?

No air filter and housing top.

Front hard fuel line is pointing forwards instead of down, wonder how that is rigged?

Interesting, an 85 chassis with an 87+ engine.

I believe those are Jacquemond wings.

Is there any performance advantage to having that many spoilers?
