You definitely need to be careful on eBay... I just realized I was sent a gasket set for 85/86 32V and not 87. But its not obvious from a distance because the only difference is the cam cover bolt seals, either that or the Victor Reinz set is stingy and assumes the old rubber gets reused. Real **** off today because I was looking forward to putting my nice red powdercoated cam covers with replated hardware back on.

From what I've seen, and been told, the Reinz kits have the parts listed in the kits pages or "Repair Pages" of the PET. The M28.43/44/45/46 engine take a 928.100.901.02 kit. In the past, I made a list of every seal I wanted and cross-referenced it against the kit. Lots of stuff in there to cover model variants.

They're there. I got a 928 100 901 04, PET says 928 100 901 03, from what I learned about Porsche parts numbers, this didn't worry me, because it means it should have been just a later revision set, apparently I was wrong. No cam cover seals to be found, just a bunch of O-rings and the small washers.

Yep. I misread your post and looked up the P/N for the '85 engine. The '87 is the 928.100.901.03 as you say.

The last digits mean a different version of part for the same part name or a variant. For example, oversized pistons only differ in those last digits. It doesn't mean a later version that is compatible, but it might be.

This is hilarious - I was just about to make a Facebook post asking if someone knew how to get rid of those stupid HID kits and floor mats and silver sticky tape and all that ****. Too funny. I'll give it a shot.

One guy here provided a more logical explanation. But I still think it's funny, almost a hidden message within eBay. Oh btw, anyone got a headlight washer pump clamp? It's such a tiny part you could mail it in an envelope.

I saw a statistic that said Ebay has reduced what used to get thrown away, by over 25%.

All that junk is in a constant state of flux, floating around the country in Postal Service Flat Rate Boxes, instead of filling up our landfills.

As soon as someone gets their used head gaskets delivered, there's a used cam belt out there, in another box!

What a beautiful thing!

A lot of the used stuff that gets thrown up there should have been thrown away. There are quality sellers, but they're few and far between. I really like "LosAngelesAutoParts", that guy sells really high quality used stuff. Stuff that's actually useable. But if it's anything rubber or plastic I buy new, or find an alternative.

I once received a set of 8 spark plugs that were obviously used. "For the $10, dude? Really?"

Yes sir! I had a hell of a fun time on my road test. Shifts so precise, revs so freely, there isn't much rotating mass in the drivetrain. Manual of course.

Not at all. I just got sick of the old pic. Would you believe I've never driven my 928 on the street? I don't even know what 928's feel like to drive. Yet I've got it halfway disassembled. Hoping to get the motor back in by spring, HOPE and pray for no leaks.
