Default No Washer Fluid...Wheres the motor.

So my brothers engine crapped out on his car so hes using my family car which means me and the shark will be seeing some winter action. So the washer fluid isnt exiting fom the nozzles it did work several months back. Wheres the motor. What are common causes. Thanks in advance.

Pump is in the tank.

Can you hear it run?
Does the voltage drop when you hit the switch?

If yes, pull a hose off the nozzle and see if fluid is coming out (clogged nozzle).

Best to start with the easiest trouble shooting first. I use a needle to poke into the washer nozzles outlets on the hood as a first step. You should also do this for the headlight washer nozzles too. Next, check reservoir level for sufficient fluid.

The pump is located just under the washer reservoir in the engine compartment.

All the best,

Joe

#1 would be plugged nozzles, roto-root them with a straight pin.

Good discussions on the rest of the system here:

and

Here's where the washer tank is,

Here's the medial side of the tank, showing the headlight washer pump at bottom, and the windshield washer pump hidden behind the foam sheet:

Here's GB's newest product, a billet headlight pump blockoff plug:

Here's the typical crap in the bottom of 20+ year old washer tanks, which might be clogging your pump:

Thank you for the photos. Those pics really help me know what to look for when I decide to inspect the headlight washer setup.

Do you have to remove the fender to remove the washer fluid tank?
Are new washer fluid tanks available? How much $?

You can get the tank out without removing the fender

I don't know. I see fuses and relays for the intensive washer, and the headlight washer, but not the regular windshield washer.

It might be in combination with one of the others.

It probably won't have it's own dedicated fuse. Probably runs off something else. You might as well just take the fender liner out and take a look at the tank and EVAP lines. The plastic "Y" for the EVAP lines commonly breaks. Back probe the pump for voltage while someone operates the washer stalk. Check the nozzles themselves for wax deposits and other crap that can get in there.

Yeah I guess. There is diagrams in the PET so you can follow the circuit and see whats bad. Make sure you have flow first obviously, but then check the circuit. It could be that the check valves in the hood are clogged or broken, or a hose inside the hood fell off. Here is the PET (parts catalogue)

http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf...91_KATALOG.pdf

Washer system diagram is on page 347.
