Removing the Air Bag Steering Wheel Horn Buttons?
I'm getting my wheel recovered and want to also replace the horn buttons while I'm at it.
How are the two horn button sections that contain the buttons removed?
Thanks.

Randy,
There's one (or two - don't remember exactly) very tiny screw that you need to remove to remove the plastic part around the horn button.
They can be quite tight. Mine were.

Randy - Roger's post the other day for a Sport Steering wheel got me thinking "that's pretty cool." I about pooped my pants when I saw SunCoast has them in other colors--one being cobalt blue to match the rest of my interior.
Just saying, if the cost for new a new sport wheel is about the same as recovering... I know where my money would go.

This is timely Randy because one of my horn buttons doesn't function and I'll be damned if I can figure out how to get the buttons out.

I know how much you hate these pictures Randy. The first picture is the horn button, showing the four tabs that must be released. Do this by sliding a very thin piece of metal down the sides of the button. Finesse the button up.
Ain't no screws holding that button in.

There's no screw for the horn button itself.
Like Brent said, you need to release the four tabs to remove it.
The screw(s) is (are) for removing the plastic part around it.
You can see it in the second pic.

Thank you for the PICS and instructions on how to carefully remove that horn buttons! The copper contact tab shown in the 2nd picture had come dislodged in the housing. It would flop around and cause the horn to honk whenever I made left hand turns!

Just a final update -
If the horn buttons do not sound the horn when pushed, remove the plastic covers, then clean the contacts under there.
If still a problem, the issue is with the horn contact ring and spring pin located on the interior back side of the steering wheel.
This requires removal of the steering wheel.
The airbag pad is secured by two hex bolts located under dust plugs on the back side of the wheel. Disconnect the battery before removing the airbag.
