Default A gearhead's dream come true - lift goodness

After many weekends and evenings on my back flailing for tools and cursing sockets that rolled just out of reach, I now have a lift. It is a good thing.

Congratulations.

So what do you charge per hour if one wants to rent? Working on my transmission is a job I'm not too excited about despite the simplicity of a simple fluid and spring change.

Color me green. I'm looking for a space to lease (no way to add a larger shop on my current property) where I can install one of those beauties.

I'm currently in the prepping stages to add a 2-post to my garage. I still have not decided on which one to go with.

What brand is that and why did you choose it?

Nice setup, changes everything!!

EDIT - just noticed it's a Rotary Revolution.....

I was going to get a Dannmar but a local outfit had a big inventory of the Rotary revolutions and gave me a decent price with installation. Also, my fiance works for Firestone and all her stores have Rotary lifts. After talking to her lift maintenance guy, who instilled in her a fear of any lift without an ALI certification, I was pretty much restricted to getting something at or above $2300. I paid a little more than I would for the Dannmar, but it says Rotary on it, which makes her feel better about the whole idea. She doesn't have to know that this is a Chinese Rotary. Anyway, the workmanship looks pretty damn good and it is very solid piece of equipment with a decent warranty.

Cool, thanks.

I'm leaning towards a Direct Lift because they also have a good reputation and I can pick one up locally and save on shipping.

All lifts have some sort of certification. ALI is not the only one. ANSI and UL also do it. Don't believe the nonsense that ONLY ALI lifts are safe. All of these certifications are for profit corporations and have to sell their certifications, so lots of misinformation abounds.

Hacker I have bought a lift from complete hydraulics and was very happy with them. I have a friend who just bought 4 for his DIY garage where he rents out space.

They are , I think, $1400 and are the best bang for the buck. Yes you can spend more but mine lifted the car flawlessly without any issues. In fact it is still lifting as I know who it was sold to. I am currently in the design stage of a new garage, and will buy another from them.

Thread title says it all...A gearhead's dream come true - lift goodness, put me in the jealous category also. Your set-up looks very nice, open and clutter free. I have a recessed scissor lift but would of much preferred a 2 post like your if I had the height. Enjoy............

Having a significant other in the car business has pretty much been all win for me. Having a significant other who likes the 928 almost as much as I do and loves going to 928 events - priceless. ALI certification may be partially or wholly a racket but when push came to shove, it didn't matter what I thought. Happy wife, happy life.

There are a ton of Chinese lifts out there in the $1500 to $1600 range. Greg Smith Equipment is a big seller of these. If you search the Garage Journal forum you will find people who have them and are perfectly happy.

Hacker, Garage Equipment Supply, ASE Deals and others have "free" shipping (if your house has a forklift and a loading dock) and will ship to a freight terminal of your choice for $60. A lift seller/installer in my area will receive a lift from one of these online sellers, transport it to your location and install it for $400. Depending on your time resources and access to a flatbed or trailer, something like that might be worth it.

Otto, I remember you mentioned a new garage at Hershey. What a set up. Really my idea of a man cave.
