Default Cam gear position S4

I have installed my CAM gear for the DS.

I have a 1987. The gear tool is slightly off, but i was told it would be close. I believe the tool was made for a 1988 928 S4 and the cams could be slightly off.

Does this look good? Hope so, i don't want to go backwards again.

I believe all of the S4 cams are the same, but that's close enough. The purpose of the tool is to make sure that you are not off by a tooth (or more) when settings the cams in place. (You can also just check the marks on the cams, but then they couldn't sell those tools).

When you get everything assembled and the belt tensioned, you will want to use Ken's "PK32V'r" to set the cam timing, here.

I'm guessing one tooth off would cause the tool not to align?

When you install the cam chain tensioner you may find that the cam lobes will align a little better.

looks good. you also have the "distance between the points on the cam sprocket " points too that you measure to double check.
then, use the porken tool or just do it the traditional way, by using the dial indicator and valve depression distance for cylinder #2 and #6.
